hello guys welcome to another series of 2jz Tuesday my name is Michael Chung and
today I'm going to bring you to go through the process of balancing your
con rods and your pistons
okay guys first and foremost I need to tell you guys
What is the reason of doing these balancing in the way for your con rods and Pistons
because all of them, it could be four cylinder, six cylinder, 8 cylinder or the
configuration you need to have them balanced so that when they are pushed up
and down or when they are rotating all of them balance each other up and reduce
vibrations to ng okay this is especially important when you are chasing after
high horse powers or you want reliability for your engine all right
but we need to understand it con rods and pistons both of them are not moving
the same direction so we need to be very clear all right so if you can see this
rough sketch okay the piston piston rings piston pins' and even a small end
of the con rod they are moving so this one is we call it the reciprocating
motion the end of the con rod which is attached to the crankshaft it is
rotating so these two DS is the furnace because rotational
rotation if it is not balanced it is not as important as the reciprocating part
which is not balanced okay so you need to make sure the reciprocating back
fellas out okay so that we will have less supervision we can go for higher
cost power application all right I'm going to stop this video I'm going to

got my weighing machine weighing scale this one is from ebay this for 1000 gram
and then it can go up to 0.1 gram in sensitivity so I hope this one dozen
doesn't lie to me so I just have to believe this is true - for all my
measurements and then I just used this machine this scale to see whether I can
balance out all my Kandra and pistons so I already put marks on the con rod so
almost cheating severa high rank them by seven bear please take note that I have
already lightly oiled them so that you want so that they won't rust so much but
most of them I really will be close to each other seven a divine or 9 gram oh
my god so need each other say 199
okay all of these readings I'm going to tech toys okay
then burning of this surface
and so sensitive I guess because some of the oil was left over here but it
doesn't detect any weight
so near to each other similar in that
last one
Wow so near to each other I did 799 green points
99.7 gram 0.6 second measurement see you at the
consistent okay so I got all the reading already alright I wanna show you guys
the story of how did I get these coordinates all right these con rods is
taken up from my car from Kuala Lumpur which is CUDA or casa okay these condos
has already been balanced by the previous tuna okay which is called alone
a long race works all right so I'm going to give a picture to him because he he
has done a very good job in balancing these con rods check the con rod the big
end has already been found down okay to the nearest gram so that all six of them
are very balanced to each other that is why he is able to make good horsepower
with reliability I'm going to measure the piston with the first one is so
significantly heavier than the rest the
rest is about 530 so I'm going to I'm going to double check the first piston
ring okay I'm going to skip the piston wave measurements how I did was I put
all the components in all the piston rings and the piston pin okay
that's why the the first time but after that I measured there's a such a huge
big gap between the first piston and the rest I took out the piston rings and the
piston pin to measure but suddenly they all the piston pins and piston rings are
balanced so that's why I cannot do the mix and match with the piston number one
so that I can do lesser work in grinding down the materials of the hospital so
this is six readings that I got from so it deviates not so much so probably
there some some stains stuck on the wing machine but I think it is very close but
why I'm saying what I'm worrying about is the difference between all these is
only significantly heavier the others so I'm going to do something about it I
hello guys now I'm having this over with piston by four grams so which is a lot
so I'm going to grind it so I'm going to select a place for me to grind I need to
take note of a few things versus I need to do small increments so
that I always use very very little bit of grinding and I do the way I always do
this so that I won't over grind piston and then I have to require the the rest
of Pistons alright then the second thing the technology is we try to leave a
smooth surface as possible so that we won't give any stress riser or heat
riser points just such as a sharp point
accumulated a whole we want to reduce the string of the pistol
okay the third thing is we don't want to remove any material from the side
because this is the place where to seal all the combustion air the combustion
mixture okay so we don't drag any where at the side or at the top if we are
grinding at the top you may reduce the compression ratio and then the
compression will be won't be the same for the rest of the distance all right
so what we can do is we look from here okay reverse dishonest original piston
you can see different distance you can see they have their own places where you
can actually try to remove out the material accessible Europe but over here
in the original piston this seems like very hard to find places so what I'm
going to do is I'm going to remove here okay this one sharp points with which I
think doesn't serve any purpose all right and then over here I'm going to do
a shameful okay and let's see how much I can see all right so here is a steam
that I've done that most of the tunas may not agree but I'm going to do it in
the name of science yes
okay I think I barely safe 0.1 grip so I'm going to continue and find more
pieces I'm going to continue to do the same for so so let's get to it and you
know reaching my way
just to double-check this aniseh 132 okay
correct so anyway everything
so I managed to reduce 0.2 grams so let's skip to the the let's keep the
three grams okay okay guys I've already done a lot but still only removed 0.4
grams of weight of this piston so I'm going to do some drastic measure and
then I saw this there's a dialogue go over here the are number the Toyota
wording here I'm going to grind this one off okay because I think that one
doesn't serve any purpose okay and then the thickness is it doesn't have any
compensation over here so I think this one can be removed possible and then
let's see whether I can do one gram or something after so so many work I've
already done here here and wordings butter for your tire no more weddings
but I've only managed to reduce by one gram so I'm going to I noticed that over
here if you can see carefully there are two holes here
actually there are like oil passage so allow the oil to go through so what I'm
going to do I'm going to drill here and then I'm going to grind it also
because over here it's just to allow the ultimate rule and then it doesn't
provide any additional strength support for the piston itself so I'm going to
like take it slightly thinner and hopefully I will get the target three
grams all right
