Russia has intercepted a US military surveillance plane near the Baltic Sea border, it has been claimed.

The radars picked up the approaching target over neutral waters, reports RT .

The Russian Su-27 fighter then attempted to warn off the American reconnaissance aircraft P-8A Poseidon, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The American aircraft subsequently pulled away, while the Russian jet safely returned to base.

Interfax reports that the Defence Ministry said: "Russian means of controlling the airspace over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea have detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation.

"To intercept the target, the Su-27 fighter from the duty force on air defense was raised into the air.

"The crew of the Russian fighter approached a safe distance from the air object, identified it as a P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force."

After the removal of a foreign aircraft from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter returned safely to the home airfield, the ministry added.

SAS: Who Dares Wins recruit Rick makes confession after near-death in rockfall - News Live - Duration: 2:45.

Recruit Rick in SAS:Who Dares Wins has revealed his sad background of being severely bullied for years.

Rick, a married father from the North West, revealed that he struggled with being bullied for years, to the extent that he was excluded from school and was deemed "non-academic."

His past difficulties helped him grow in confidence, meaning he now has a fear of letting people down, making him a good team player, and his drive to succeed has been instrumental in him becoming a barrister at just 22 years old.

But fans will remember him as, when he had to stop one of his fellow recruits from hitting a cliff in a freefall, he broke too early, meaning his mate slammed into a rock, luckily just escaping a serious injury.

When asked about his time on the show, he said: "From a mental/psychological point of view I found it much tougher than I expected. I consider myself to be a resilient individual and good at turning negative scenarios into successes.

"However, during the process I had to confront demons about acceptance and validation that I have ignored since I was a child that stem from years of bullying. I found this quite emotional at times and I think the DS recognised that my driving force is due to my emotions surrounding acceptance.

"Having identified this, I felt this part of my personality was specifically tested."

Rick had a good childhood, attended a local grammar school and met his wife on the last day of school, however he describes his younger self as having been 'very weedy', not at all athletic and he was teased for the way he looked.

He was excluded from social events and always the last one picked to be part of the team. His classmates knew he would react when pushed and after finally retaliating at age 16, a teacher stepped in, explained what had been going on, and saved him from punishment.

Things started to get better as a result and he started dating his crush on the last day of school when he was 17. They're now married and have a two year old son.

He says that being bullied as a child has spurred him on to succeed in life. He went to university and studied Law and is now successful in the legal field.

SAS: Who Dares Wins airs at 9pm on Sundays on Channel 4.
