What Is Turbulence? - Duration: 3:36.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Cruise down the street, and you leave chaos in your wake.

As you drive or ride your bike, you've

probably noticed the wind whipping around you.

Here's what the airflow looks like.

These disturbances in the air and other fluids

are known as turbulence.

Quantifying these fragmented flows

is one of the greatest problems in math.

If researchers can find a way to capture

this chaos in an equation, we'll be

better able to understand this universal event,

from locomotion to ocean currents

to how gases move throughout galaxies.

Turbulence is everywhere if we look close enough.

Blow out a candle and watch the swirling of the smoke trails.

Disrupt a stream with a stick and see the little whirlpools

form in the wake.

On larger scales, the ocean currents sweep

across the globe.

Storms churn the atmosphere on Earth and other planets.

How can researchers study the chaotic phenomenon

known as turbulence, and what's preventing them from capturing

the full picture?

Fluids are gases and liquids that flow and adapt

to the shape of a container think

water, honey, blood, and air.

They have quantifiable properties

like viscosity, velocity, pressure,

and density that mathematicians can track over time.

They're also governed by the laws of conservation

of mass, energy, and momentum.

Mathematicians describe fluid flows using the Navier-Stokes

equations.

You can think of these equations as Newton's second law

for the motion of fluids.

Force equals mass times acceleration.

On the left side of the equation is

the density and acceleration, or the change

in velocity of a particle of fluid over time.

On the right side is change in pressure,

internal forces of stress, and finally, external forces

acting on the fluid.

Smooth continuous fluid flows, like in a gentle stream

or pipe, are called laminar flows.

The equations work well for describing how particles behave

in laminar flows, but most fluids in nature

are not so orderly.

They can be really chaotic, or turbulent.

In the case of your afternoon drive,

the air starts as a laminar flow as it

meets the front of your car.

What happens next depends on your car's shape,

speed, texture, temperature, as well as the properties

of the air and atmosphere.

Most cars have an aerodynamic shape,

which minimizes the turbulence initially.

As the air moves over the car, the molecules

closest to your door stay put and interact with its surface.

Further away, air molecules travel at different speeds.

These layers of different air create friction and turbulence,

what you'd feel as drag.

The result is vortices and eddies

that, in turn, generate more and more swirls.

Ever heard of the butterfly effect?

It says a flap of a butterfly's wing in Japan

could set off a chain of events that

could trigger a tornado in Texas a week later.

These eddies that beget more eddies and vortices

and so on become too complicated for mathematicians

to predict or quantify.

Where will eddies form?

How many will there be?

Where will energy be concentrated or dispersed?

Plug in certain values, and the equations may spit out

infinite values for velocity.

This breaks down or blows up the model.

Because of these challenges and the possibilities

that understanding turbulence could lead to,

there's a million dollar reward for proving either

that the Navier-Stokes equations always work

or that they sometimes fail, meaning velocity

becomes infinite.

Until then, who knows what chain of events

you'll start by taking your Sunday drive.

What Are S.M.A.R.T. Goals: S.M.A.R.T. Method of Goal Setting - Duration: 7:01.

Well, the nice thing about setting goals is once you learn how to do it based on your

personality.

You can take that into anything that you want to do for the rest of your life.

This is Stephanie B from Career Makeover Academy.

And today, I have an honored guest.

Jeannette Ryals with Jeannette Ryals & Company.

A real estate investor with more than 12 years of experience bringing her information online.

So that she can teach others how to do the same thing.

So that they can be financially free.

Welcome, Jeannette!

How are you today?

I'm great.

Thanks for having me on, Stephanie.

I just kind of wanted to see what's your background on goals and have you tell us a little about

yourself.

Absolutely.

So, I spent 16 years in corporate America in a sales executive and management position.

Teaching others with no sales experience, how to set and achieve goals.

And I did that mainly on the personal side, because if you set personal goals that are

extremely large you will get everything that you want professionally out of life.

That's how actually approached goal setting in the corporate setting.

But, after 16 years, I kind of had enough of it.

And, I decided 'You know what?

With all of the time, effort, and energy that I'm spending I really should just be doing

this for myself."

So, I stepped down from management and just put myself into a sales position.

And, planned for 5th year that I would actually step out and start my own business in real

estate investing.

And that's what I did.

After 1 year, I was able to replace my income of 6 figures with just real estate.

And, I continue to do real estate today.

Along with promissory note lending.

And then teaching other people how to actually self-direct their IRAs so they can make money

rather than just seeing their money stay very even over 10-20 years.

So, that's what I do now.

I think it'll be very interesting to see how your goal setting practice has set you up

for such success at this point in your life.

You're doing amazing things and actually teaching others to do what you do.

Well, the nice thing about setting goals is once you learn how to do it based on your

personality you can take that into anything that you want to do for the rest of your life.

I don't start my day any differently now than when I was in corporate America.

I get up.

I plan my day.

I work my plan rather than having my day kind of run me.

Which is very easy to do if you work from your home.

That's the same thing I do every day.

So, I get up.

I exercise.

I make sure that i plan my day out.

Whatever my top 3 things are to do I make sure I get them done first.

Or, if there's something I just absolutely dislike I get it out of the way first thing.

I think once you learn to set and achieve goals it becomes very simple to set yourself

up for what you want out of life.

And, since success means so many things to so many people.

I think it's important to realize that you have to find what's important to you.

There's nothing right and there's nothing wrong.

It has to be based on what you want out of life.

For me, I wanted time and freedom.

So, I didn't want to have all of my corporate benefits that I had because I know they came

with golden handcuffs.

The company car, the expense ticket, everything like that.

That was wonderful, but that also meant that they could call me up any time that they wanted

to and have me drive 100 miles.

Have me go out of town on 2 days notice.

Or 1 day notice.

I really wanted to own my time again and it didn't really matter to me what I did, but

I knew that by real estate I could not only effect today's income but I could get tomorrow's

security under way.

And I think that's what most people are really worried about today is that they really wanted

something for themselves but their just not sure how to do it.

Or, they want that job that they love but they just don't know how to make the money

side of it work.

So, I think once you learn to set goals and obtain them and actually evaluate them things

become so much easier for you to do every day.

It's a requirement in order to succeed.

And to be able to set those goals and obtain them.

Set reasonable steps to obtain those goals.

Without that, you can have a pie in the sky goal but if you can't figure out how to make

it happen.

Then it doesn't happen usually.

You know?

It's demoralizing.

It is.

How many people set those new years resolutions and then by week 2 or 3 or 4 or February,

March they're like "Ugh.

I'm a failure.

I couldn't do this."

Exactly!

And the problem is: they didn't have the background to set up those goals and actually be able

to obtain them.

Right!

And honestly, if you set goals based on how your personality is it's so much easier.

You know, the "Type A" person - the goal getter - they will figure out a way to do things;

but the person maybe that is kind of an even-keeled person - that isn't as high energy and things

like that - sometimes setting goals can really scare people like that and they need to understand

that there's more than one way to set and achieve goals.

I teach mainly the S.M.A.R.T Method but I also have 3 other methods that I use because

not everybody wants to set a goal for every part of their life.

Maybe they only want fitness or they only want financial or they only want to set that

goal to get that better job.

And that's ok.

And, I think people need to realize that: If you kind of work with your personality

instead of against it things will fall into place much easier for you.

Yeah, I think people sort of assume that the "Type A" personality route's the only way

to go.

And when they lose momentum they internalize that, unfortunately.

So, let's backtrack a little bit and lets talk about the S.M.A.R.T goals.

Can you tell us what that acronym stands for?

Sure.

S.M.A.R.T.

Goals entail 5 things.

First, your goal needs to be 'Specific'.

If I was going to run a marathon I need to say what marathon I'm actually going to run.

For those of you that don't know, that's 26.2 miles.

That's a specific goal.

It has to be 'Measurable'.

That's what the 'M' stands for.

Is it going to be measured at an event?

Are you going to just do a time?

Are you going to do a place?

It has to have a specific ability to be measured.

That way you know if you hit it or if you just kind of failed on hitting that.

Which is ok.

Then you have to write it so it's 'Attainable' for you.

For example: I haven't run a marathon since I was 40 years old.

For me to go out and do right now that is in no way, shape, or form going to happen.

It has to be attainable for you as you write it today.

Then it has to be 'Realistic' for you.

Depending on your job.

Are you working 60 hours a week or do you have 2 children?

Things like that you have to take those into consideration.

So, is it realistic for you at this point in your life to actually do the goal that

you're putting on paper?

The 'T' stands for the "Time".

When are you going to actually start.

Whether it's start training, start your new business, start training for a marathon.

Whatever that is, you have to have a start date.

One of the biggest issues, I think, with some people is that they'll say 'As soon as I get

this done I'll start that."

"As soon as I get that done then I'll start that," but you can't do that with goals.

You have to start whenever it is.

If it's tomorrow or today at 5 pm that's when you're going to start.

And you'll see whether or not you're going to get what you need done out of the way to

actually hit that goal.

Well, that's the S.M.A.R.T.

Method.

The other method that I actually teach and it works a lot for creative people.

If you just get overwhelmed by having a goal sheet and looking at that goal sheet every

single day and saying those goals to yourself you just get so overwhelmed because you feel

stressed out, another method that I teach is Personality Plus.

What Is Rambutan? | Fruits You Probably Never Heard Of | Ep. 4 - Duration: 2:45.

Have you heard of the fruit that looks like a furry strawberry?

The Rambutan is an edible fruit that is native

to Indonesia and is grown in various countries in tropical South-East Asia.

The name "rambutan" is derived from the Malay word rambut meaning "hair", for obvious reasons.

When you peel off the hairy, leathery skin, you will find that it looks just like a lychee

on the inside.

To which it is closely related.

The rambutan and the lychee both belong to the soapberry family.

(Sapindaceae) Around the 13th to 15th centuries, Arab traders,

who played a major role in Indian Ocean trade, introduced rambutan to East Africa.

In the 19th century, the Dutch introduced rambutan from their colony in Southeast Asia

to Suriname in South America.

Today is widely cultivated and popular in almost any tropical region in Central and

South America.

The currently largest producer in the world is Thailand with over 588,000 tons of fruit

annually, which makes up over 55% of global production.

Once fully grown, the oval fruits are between 3-6 cm long and 3-4 cm broad and hang together

in clusters of 10-20 fruits.

The fruit are usually sold fresh, used in making jams and jellies, or canned.

The fruit flesh tastes sweet similar to the lychee but with a mildly more acidic flavor.

The rambutan tree itself can grow up to 20 meters and is evergreen.

Rambutan is adapted to warm tropical climates, around 22–30 °C, and is sensitive to any

temperatures below 10 °C. An average tree may produce 5,000–6,000

or more fruits which equals to around 60-70 kg.

Fresh rambutan fruits carry 75 calories per 100 g.

It contains good amounts of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

They ripen only on the tree, so once harvested, they won't ripen further.

Unpeeled they can be kept fresh for up to 5 days in a room or 10-12 days inside the

refrigerator.

Once you peel them, eat them immediately, since they are easily perishable.

Although popular in tropical regions, unlike lychees, Rambutans are still widely unknown

in Europe, North America and other more northern parts of the world, so if you happen to come

across them, now you know that they are safe to enjoy.

Stay valorous.

News24 - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals what he must do as Man Utd manager - Duration: 4:10.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant trophies remain the only measure of success at Manchester United

Mauricio Pochettino, Solskjaer's rival for the Reds job, dismissed silverware as only being good for "egos" after Tottenham went out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup in the space of four days

But caretaker boss Solskjaer, who will be aiming to make it nine wins from nine on Tuesday when Burnley visit, said it is still the only currency that matters at Old Trafford

And that means United will be going all out for FA Cup glory as well as trying to beat Pochettino's Spurs into third place in the Premier League

"We've got the Champions League, we've got the FA Cup, we can't just say top-four and that's it," said Solskjaer

"We've got to look at, 'Can we win something this year?' And I go into every single game as United manager thinking we can win

"We're about winning trophies, of course we are.  "We can't win the league this year, but we're still in the FA Cup, so we're going to try to win it, of course

I think every manager wants to win every game, so I don't think that's the point he was making

"   The Norwegian, who won six Premier League titles (top, with the crown), two FA Cups and the Champions League as a player with United, said Sir Alex Ferguson left a winning legacy that had rubbed off on him

"If you win trophies that's a fantastic day for everyone in the club," said Solskjaer

"It's just the best time of your life, that day when you win, because you never know when the next one is going to come

"The manager always said, 'Enjoy whatever trophy you win', but it's not up to me to discuss what anyone else says

"I'm just saying that we, here at this club, we're looking to win trophies."  United were 11 points off fourth spot when Solskjaer took over from the axed Jose Mourinho last month, but six league wins in succession have narrowed that gap to three

Beating Burnley tonight would see them move level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea , who play tomorrow

Solskjaer claims his team can get better as the season goes on.  "I've been really impressed with the team, the players, the desire to improve and the team spirit," he said

"We need to use these months now to be ready for the challenge next season.  "We came second last season, we wanted to be challenging for the top place

"It didn't happen. Now it's about reorganising and starting next season ready to challenge

"  Asked what had pleased him most about his winning spell in the hot seat, Solskjaer said: "When you go away to Spurs and win that game, it's fantastic

"But when you go to Arsenal , and win that one in a much better manner, that's what pleases me the most

"Everyone buys into the ideas we're having and if they keep the same attitude and application in training, we're going to get better

What is TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)

and where does it come from?

TDS is the measure of Dissolved Solids

Anything you add to a swimming pool is going to increase something

and everything you add will increase TDS

a gallon of sodium hypochlorite (containing 2.34 pounds of solids)

will add 12 ppm of FAC (Free Available Chlorine) to 10,000 gallons of water

and will increase the TDS by 28 ppm

15 oz. of trichlor (stabilized chlorine tablets/granular)

will add 10 ppm of FAC to 10,000g

but it will also increase the CYA (Cyanuric Acid) by 6 ppm

and the TDS by 10 ppm

Calhypo (Calcium Hypochlorite) added at a rate of 20 oz. per ten-thousand gallons

will add 10 ppm of FAC (Free Available Chlorine)

but will also increase your Calcium Hardness by 8 ppm

and your Total Dissolved Solids by 15 ppm

Even a cup of muriatic acid

containing 1.87 pounds of solids per gallon

will raise the TDS by 1.4 ppm

What Is the Solution to Strong Sexual Desire? | Little Lessons with David Servant - Duration: 9:29.

What is the solution to strong sexual desire?

Hi, welcome to today's little lesson.

We've been talking about sex, sexual desire and masturbation, illicit sex and so forth,

looking what the Bible has to say.

This will actually be the fourth little lesson in this series, so if you haven't seen the

first three you might want to check out those other ones before you watch this one.

But on our last lesson we started reading through first Corinthians, the first few verses

of chapter seven, where Paul addresses the subject of sex.

A common theme throughout this entire section is Paul's undeniable acknowledgment that sex

is good and that sex is God given and that because of sexual desire and because of the

pitfalls of people that don't properly vent their sexual desire and the sins that are

waiting out there, Christians ought to get married.

We've read that last time.

He said, in verse number two of first Corinthians, chapter seven, "But because of immoralities,

each man is to have his own wife and each woman is to have her own husband."

Paul's remedy for the problem of immorality ... Again, he never mentions masturbation

in any list as being an immorality.

But because of immoralities, and Paul does list them in first Corinthians.

In fact, it all starts of by addressing a man who's living in an incestuous relationship

with his stepmother.

Then Paul lists, "Don't you know, adulterers and fornicators will not inherit the kingdom

of God."

See, so he's already gotten into some specifics.

But now he's saying because of the immoralities, because of the fact that there's potential

for immorality out there with people who are unmarried, because they don't have a way to

express, vent, act on their sexual desire, the solution is marriage.

Okay, now you say, "Well I'm not married, where does that leave me?"

That leaves you in need of marriage, if you have that sexual desire.

We've read these verses over the years within Christian circles.

I think we've lost ... They don't have the same impact upon us as they would if we were

reading them for the very first time with a really open mind, so I'm asking you to open

your mind and try to pretend like you're reading this for the very first time.

Listen to these words, what Paul writes, because even within marriage he sees that there are

potential dangers there because of God given sexual desire.

Just because you're married to somebody doesn't mean that there isn't temptation to express

your sexual desire and act on it outside of marriage.

That's what the sin of adultery is.

Paul says, verse number three, "The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise

also the wife to her husband."

You need to be making sure that your marriage is not a sexless marriage.

Otherwise, you're setting yourself and setting your spouse up for temptation that could lead

to immorality.

This is a commandment, this is a commandment I love obeying personally myself.

All right.

Boy, we'll just have to go out and fulfill our duty, hopefully as often as we possibly

get a chance.

"The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband."

What a great duty.

It gets even stronger if you can kind of open your mind as if you've never heard this before.

"The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does, and likewise

also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does."

Oh my goodness, whoever heard, whoever would have thought of such an idea as that?

Can you believe that's in the Bible.

Husbands and wives ... Husbands, your wife's body, she doesn't have authority over that,

you do.

Vice versa, wives, your husband's doesn't have the authority over his own body, you

do.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe you're saying ... I never would have thought anyone would

ever say this.

It's said right in our Bibles.

It's over the top.

Oh my goodness.

You hardly even know how to paraphrase this, it's just so over the top.

Can you imagine anyone saying this?

"They said it, Paul said it."

Verse five, "Stop depriving one another."

He's addressing those sexless marriages where one or the other is not cooperating.

One or the other saying, "This is my body, I think I'll decide to stop having sex."

Well it's not your body, it's your spouse's body, you can't decide that.

If they want it, they got it.

It's theirs.

Can you believe anyone saying this?

I mean, it's almost shocking.

"Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves

to prayer."

Only if you can both agree and this, "Hey, let's forgo sexual relationship for a limited,

limited time, so we can spend more time in prayer."

Oh my goodness.

"And then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of

self control."

Now, there are some folks who said, "Well, there you go now David, you've been saying

that masturbation is never listed in scripture as a sin, but right there, what is the temptation

that Satan is tempting these people who are in a sexless marriage?

Well, it can only be masturbation."

Au contraire monsieur, there's plenty else to do besides masturbate in a sexless marriage,

and I think everyone would agree that masturbation is ... Solo sex is nowhere close to mutual,

consensual sex.

It's just nowhere close.

It's a cheap substitute, but nowhere close.

For anyone to say, "Well that verse right there proves that masturbation is wrong",

well actually it doesn't.

If that's what Paul was talking about, why didn't he just say it?

Why didn't he say it anywhere in the New Testament, in all of the epistles he wrote.

If there's a place to write about masturbation, Paul has it here, and he has it in previous

chapters too when he addresses sexual sins.

Oh my goodness.

Here's the override thought, I want to talk to the single people, all those people, those

41,000 young men who have viewed our most popular little lesson video, Will God forgive

me if I keep repeating the same sin, and I think I know what they're struggling with.

Can you see how this chapter, these words so affirm the reality of sexual desire and

that remedy, the release, the solution to sexual frustration is marriage.

Of course, you just can't marry anybody over night, but it could take some time, but that's

the solution.

Paul didn't say, "Well just suck it up buddy," or, "Take a cold shower."

I remember trying that.

I'd love to ask those guys the questions that say, "Take a cold shower."

How's that working for you?

Oh my goodness.

God bless these preachers.

All right, well we're out of time and we'll just pick up here in our next little lesson.

This is kind of fun, talking about these kind of things.

I hope that I'm at least making some struggling, single people feel a little bit better about

themselves.

We still have questions and answers to give, so hope to see you next time.

God bless you.
