Welcome to Homebuyer's School

brought to you by Brookfield Residential

Hi everyone and welcome to another edition of Homebuyer's School.

Today I'm joined by Jessica McNabb, Area Manager with Brookfield Residential

and today the question we're going to answer is:

"What's the difference between a home built for me and a show home?"

So Jessica you know when you go into a show home it's really nice,

but probably that's not what you're going to get.

So what are some of those differences?

So when you're looking at the show home you're going to see a lot of

the different upgrades and you're going to think that "the budget is so high, I might

not be able to get everything." So that could be a little bit of a misconception

because we can go through, create a list and price it out for you and it might

actually fit within the budgets. Typically our show homes will have the

flooring upgraded the fireplace there's going to be a lot of different details

so you can actually go through and select a list of what's important to you

and your family and go through and create the price that fits within their range.

So what are some of the key things that people look at that probably

won't be included when you go into a show home?

Right, so there could be different

light fixtures they could be upgraded

light fixtures the appliances are

typically upgraded. So they would be a

stainless steel or a slate package.

There's usually a fireplace included in a

show home, and the flooring is probably

hardwood flooring.

Can I buy a show home?

You can buy a show a home home.

Directly- ?

Yeah, so eventually a couple of years after we've

sold out of the area you can say that you want a quicker possession home and

if the show home's available we'll have all the inclusions of what's there in

terms of flooring and counter tops and all of the different details.

The important thing to think about when buying a show home is that it's going to

be sold typically as is because there's warranties on our new homes and with the

warranty the one year period has expired, however most builders will give you an

additional one-year warranty. However that extended two years, and five years,

and ten years, those aren't included for that length of time anymore.

Is the pricing going to be different? Like if let's say you know, if I wait longer

does the price go down of a show home?

Typically the price would be exactly list price as the other homes, however

some builders you're open to submit your pricing and your offer and it's up to

the builder to say whether or not there's going to be a change in the price.

Why would somebody actually typically buy a show home?

So when somebody is looking at the show home it's because

they need a little bit sooner possession,

because when we're building a new home they might have a timeline of "I want to

choose all my colors for myself I want to choose my upgrades", and then you'll

have to wait and move into your home once it's built, but with the show home

it's there, its existing, you have a timeline of "I need to be in in a month",

and then we have that show home ready for you.

However long it takes to get the plumbing

and all that kind of stuff ready right?

Because typically a show home doesn't have all those feat- you know, it's not

really livable right away, right?

Right, so the show home would definitely

be livable because we do have the running water and the lights and all of

the utilities flowing through it. The thing that would take up to a month

let's say is getting your mortgage approval in place going through like the

lawyer's office and going through all the financing and then we also go

through on the construction side and just make sure everything is maintained.

Just going back to the the home built for me though, are there some things from

a show home that let's say, I walk in a show home, I really like that couch

but either I can't afford it, I don't like anything else, can I purchase that

specific appliance for me?

So the couch for example?

Let's say the couch, right.

So if you're purchasing a show home most

times the builder will say "do you want to purchase the entirety of the

furniture?" So it's not typically just one piece, it would be all of the furniture.

Okay so it's not like "well I want that specific chair, that table but not anything else.

Could be. Maybe some builders do that, could be an option.

Okay, do you have anything else to add in terms of the differences between show

homes and a home built for you?

Nope, that's everything.

Awesome, well thank you very much Jessica. Thank you very much

we all want to be helpful I think to people in need but there are a lot of

different things that that can look like so today we're going to talk about three

different approaches that we can take when we try to change the world for good

for example unfortunately there are a lot of hungry people in the world so one

way that we could address this problem would be to give someone food this would

be an act of chesed an act of loving kindness it is voluntary and it's

individual that means we choose to give something over to someone else out of a

feeling of personal motivation or personal connection other acts of

chesed might involve bringing a lasagna to a friend who's just had a baby and

it's feeling overwhelmed or visiting someone who's sick it's not necessarily

only for someone who has a need that is greater than your own but it's an act of

loving kindness and caring for someone else another way that we could help

hungry people would be to donate money donating money in the Jewish tradition

is called tzedakah and it's obligatory we are obligated to offer some of our

financial resources to those who are in need and it really only counts if you're

giving money to people who really really need your help

and furthermore the great Jewish sage Maimonides said that the highest form of

tzedakah is helping a person become self-sufficient to take one example to

donate money to a food bank so that they could offer food to those who are in

need this money could go potentially to buy groceries but it could also go to

pay the food banks electricity bill or rent there's a third option though we

also could ask why are there hungry people in the world and what needs to

change in order to make that not be the case

do we need to reallocate money in our state or federal budget so that people

who are close to poverty don't go over the edge

do we need to pass new regulations to make housing more affordable do we need

to raise the minimum wage so that people who are working full-time are able to

actually take care of all of their needs in what ways do racism or sexism or

homophobia contribute to people falling into poverty

staying in poverty the path of tzedek of justice is that of trying to create a

better world by changing the systems and structures that cause inequality to

understand these systems better take a look at this picture in the first one

everybody has the same supports but that doesn't mean that they can all see the

ballgame because the system for keeping people out impacts different people in

different ways in the second picture you see that everybody has the supports that

they need in order to access the thing that they're trying to get so that at

very minimum is the tzedek perspective is trying to change the systems so that

everybody has a chance to get in but it can go even further have a look at this

third picture here instead of making the system more accessible to everybody

they're dismantling the system entirely the real work of tzedek is about changing

systems that keep people out so that we don't even need to worry about having

supports to bolster people a little bit here and a little bit there what would

this look like with regards to poverty and hunger in America

those are the questions that tzedek asks and seeks to answer we need people to

help make sure that the needs of today are being addressed chesed and tzedakah

are important important pieces of that project but if we don't ask why those

needs are there in the first place injustice will continue to be

perpetuated pursuing tzedek is an essential part of our work for a more

just world

difference between a psychopath and someone with schizoid personality disorder - Duration: 4:26.

What is the difference between a psychopath and someone with schizoid personality disorder? Answer Request▾

Psychopathy and schizoid PD both have very many differences. However, I have decided to compare and contrast their similarities, to help better your understanding. I am open to corrections of course.

They both have an empathy deficit. Psychopaths have a blunt affect, whereas schizoids have a flattened affect (usually).

They are both absent of delusions. (As much as people like to think that psychopaths are grandiose-inflated narcissists and schizoids are schizophrenic.) Just. Schizoids love solitude, that is a defining feature. They are extreme versions of introverts.

Psychopaths are not always introverted, and usually enjoy maintaining at least few relationships. It is extremely unlikely that a schizoid can be extroverted by nature, if not impossible. It is akin to saying that psychopaths can also have bipolar or depression.

Covert schizoids are those who appear as extroverted and charming, but would truly just rather be left alone. So yes, its a bit like a psychopaths "mask" but still different.

Not all of them do it for this reason, but they often do it to avoid intimacy, while achieving personal gain. Whether its because they work in a highly social job or otherwise.

Psychopaths must wear masks to survive, it is out of necessity, and dont fake masks because they secretly want to be alone.

Schizoids also score higher on cognitive empathy and lower on emotional empathy like psychopaths, however this will vary greatly in Schizoids, more so than it would with psychopathy. Overt Schizoids, which are traditional schizoids, lack other emotions/feelings that psychopaths typically dont.

As in, they also fall on the asexuality spectrum, they "suffer" from the inability to feel pleasure and are indifferent to criticism and praise.

Psychopaths can be indifferent as well, but these Schizoids often lack the ability to merit any sort of emotional response. For example, if you insult them or cheat on them, they dont even get angry.

They truly just dont care. Psychopaths cannot connect with people emotionally. Schizoids can, but exclusively if they do. Psychopaths are born, and schizoid PD can be "made" in a person.

It is not well researched, but it usually requires a genetic component, intertwined along with nature and environment to create such a personality. There is another theory that they have forcibly desensitized themselves, to deal with whatever vulnerabillity they might have had to something.

Also, schizoid PD is more versatile than psychopathy in terms of its comorbidity. Psychopaths are immune to other certain mental conditions that require a sense of emotional upheaval, I.e depression.

But it is possible to have a schizoidal psychopath, or, a depressive schizoid as well as just a traditional one.
