We all yawn - from a small kid to old people, even animals do it, too.

But the question is why do people and animals yawn?

No one knows for sure.

However there are many theories about why people yawn.

One theory is that when we are bored or tired, we just do not breathe as deeply as we usually

do.

Due to this, our bodies take in less oxygen because our breathing has slowed.

Therefore, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide

out of the blood.

Another theory is that yawning stretches the lungs and lung tissue.

Stretching and yawning may be a way to flex muscles and joints, increase heart rate and

feel more awake and alert.

Some people believe that yawning is a protective reflex to redistribute the oil-like substance

called surfactant that helps keep lungs lubricated inside and keeps them from collapsing.

So, if we did not yawn as per this theory, taking a deep breath would become harder and

harder and that would not be good for us.

One thing we all know is that yawning is contagious.

If you yawn in a group, you will probably notice a few other people will start yawning

too.

What is surprising is that even thinking about yawning can get you yawning.

So that is all about yawning and why we yawn.

Why Do We Burp? - Duration: 1:55.

In this video, you will learn, why do we burp?

Please consider subscribing to this channel by clicking the subscribe button and clicking

A burp sometimes called a belch is nothing but gas.

When you eat or drink, you do not just swallow food or liquid, you also swallow air at the

same time.

The air we breathe contains gases such as nitrogen and oxygen.

And when you swallow these gases, they need to get out.

That is where burping comes in.

This extra gas is forced out of the stomach, up through the esophagus, the tube for food

that connects the back of the throat to the stomach and out of the mouth as a burp.

Drinking soda or other carbonated beverages makes you burp more because these drinks contain

extra gas.

The gas that makes the drinks fizzy is carbon dioxide, another gas that can bring on big

burps.

Also sometimes eating or drinking too fast can cause indigestion, which can make a person

burp because this can send extra air into the stomach.

The same thing happens when you drink through a straw.

Burping is almost never anything to worry about.

Everybody does it at least once in a while.

So what can you do if you are around people and you feel a burp coming on?

Well try to burp quietly and always cover your mouth.

Also saying "excuse me" would not hurt either as it would be polite and sensible.
