Bono leaves fans BAFFLED after revealing near-death experience over LP

The U2 frontman says he nearly died while making the band's latest album Songs Of Experience, however it's his cryptic explanation that has many scratching their heads.

He told Rolling Stone this week: "People have these extinction events in their lives, it could be psychological or it could be physical. And, yes, it was physical for me.

I am a singer and everything I do comes from air and in this process I felt I was suffocating.

That was the most frightening thing that could happen to me because I am in pain… I want to speak about the issue in a way that lets people fi ll in the blanks of what they have been through, you know?" One bemused fan simply tweeted in response: "What are you on about, mate?" .

Another wrote: "Did Bono almost die for real or in a pretentious kind of parallel universe kind of way?" While one summed up the general sentiment of naysayers: "Bono is being annoying again." However the 57-year-old hitmaker insists the experience has given him perspective.

"This political apocalypse was going on in Europe and in America and it found a perfect rhyme with what was going on in my own life," he added. "I have had a hail of blows over the years.

You get warning signs and then you see that you are not a tank… People have had so much worse to deal with so that is another reason not to talk about it… I am the luckiest man on earth."  ---------------.

The 30-year-old has ruled out a permanent move there even though husband Mark Wright is now based in LA for his role as a reporter on entertainment show Extra. She says: "I love [LA].

I've only been a couple of times but I find it a really positive and happy place but I don't think I'd move over there as I'm such a home bird." Not that the Manchester-born actress gets to spend much time at home.

She currently stars in hit BBC One drama Our Girl and has been filming the military series for several months in South Africa, Malaysia and Nepa.  ---------------.

Tom Jones misses a good British pub Sir Tom Jones says one of the downsides of living in sunny California is the lack of traditional British pubs.

The 77-year-old singer moved to Los Angeles in 1974 but never kicked the craving for a pulled pint. "I do like a drink," The Voice TV coach tells Radio Times.

"I've never taken any drugs but I love British pubs. I like the camaraderie. I've always been a drinker but thank God it has never got a hold of me.

I've never had a problem with it." The Welshman, who had hip replacement surgery in October, recently said he was returning permanently to his homeland following the death of his beloved wife Linda to lung cancer last April.

He said: "My late wife was always homesick when we were in the States. She was always planning to come back. We were British, it never left us. [When I retire] it would be in Wales." .

Jane Fonda predicted she would die young Jane Fonda didn't think she would make it to the age of 30.

The Barbarella actress, who turned 80 on December 21, says she expected to die from an addiction "of some sort" much earlier in her life. "I never pictured 30," she admits.

"I assumed I wouldn't live very long and that I would die lonely and an addict of some sort. I didn't think if I did live this long that I would be vibrant and healthy and still working.

I'm grateful." The Monster-In-Law star – who has daughters Mary, 50, Vanessa, 49, and son Troy, 44, from three marriages – adds: "I'm thankful that I've gotten better over the 80 years. It wasn't always true.

I've really worked hard to get better as a human being.

Lorraines prime time TV dream  From morning person to night owl Lorraine Kelly says she's excited finally to tackle the prime time. The ITV breakfast show queen will star alongside Rob Beckett, 31, in new Saturday night show Wedding Day Winners.

"This show has been really great for me," Lorraine tells Day & Night of the programme, which will feature couples fighting it out to get married on BBC One.

"I never thought I would do a shiny floor Saturday night show. This is the biggie.

I'm like, 'Oh my god this is Saturday night on BBC!' It is very grown up." But have bosses of her eponymous show had their noses put out of joint by the timing of Wedding Day Winners as it kicks off next week and will be going head-to-head against the new series of ITV's talent show The Voice.

I have done lots for the BBC. I have done lots for Sky. I guess as long as I don't do it the time I am on in the morning." Lucky Lorraine!.

Brit girl, 9, suffers near-fatal electric shock and scars in hotel SWIMMING POOL horror

Jade Miller, nine, knelt on exposed electric wiring in a water feature and was instantly knocked unconscious. The shock left her paralysed from the neck down and unable to speak at first.

Jade was staying with her parents Meredith, 48, and Simon, 59, at the Golden Temple Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

But a dream holiday was turned into a nightmare this year when Jade was almost killed in the incident that also disrupted her heartbeat and left her with deep painful burns on her left leg where the electricity entered and exited her body.

"I nearly died and you dont even say sorry or care about people" Jade Miller Jade has been left with lifelong scars where skin was removed from her back and stomach to patch up her legs.

Her parents were left disgusted after staff at the hotel said Jade had just been burned by the heat of the lamp — despite hospital documents saying she had suffered an electric shock.

And the desperate pair had to find around £20,000 overnight to charter a flight to take Jade to a better hospital in Thailand.

Brave Jade, who suffers flashbacks and night terrors, has written a letter to the hotels bosses begging them to be more careful.

She wrote: Im sad that happened to me. I nearly died and you dont even say sorry or care about people.

I feel deeply sorry and so should you. Jade was by the pool with her mum, family friend Danielle Connolly and her daughter Rafa, six, when tragedy struck in July this year.

The girls were jumping in and out of the pool at the hotel when Jade collapsed while climbing out onto a ledge.

Meredith thought she was messing around — until Rafa touched Jades leg and got an electric shock. Meredith carried Jades limp body from the pool and laid her on a poolside sunbed.

They found a faint pulse and rushed her in the back of a van to Royal Angkor International Hospital.

Doctors advised taking her to a hospital in Bangkok — and her family had to find the money to fly her there in a private plane the next day.

Meredith, who lives in Thailand, said she was told Jade was lucky to be alive, but that the next 48 hours were critical.

Her heart condition was so severe they were unable at that point to carry out any treatment to her burns.

It was appalling. Dad Simon added: Meredith will never forget the sound of her screams. The family claim their hotel paid for Jades first night in hospital but refused to pay for the rest of her medical costs — around £30,000.

If we hadnt got together the money for the plane we dont know if she would be dead or not, said Simon.

ade spent a week in hospital until her heart was stabilised, and came back three weeks later for skin grafts. Simon said that Jade still needs weekly psychologist appointments to get over the trauma.

He said: We just want to make sure that people know about the lack of safety measures in these places.

It really is abysmal. General manager of the hotel Luon Thea said Jade was playing on a restricted area of the pool 15 minutes after it closed, and that her injury was caused by the heat from the lamps.

He said they were not willing to pay the cost of the plane — but did pay the initial hospital costs of £1,306 and waived all accommodation costs. He added that if Jade had been shocked she would have died.

On behalf of my whole team and owner, Im so sorry to see the incident happening to Ms Jade Miller. Daily Star Online has approached the Golden Temple Hotel for comment.
