OK, pop quiz.

Which of these snakes is the most poisonous?

The King Cobra, the Black Mamba, the Banded Krait, or the Garter snake?

Before you answer, let's think about that question.

Which snake is the most poisonous?

Is that the same thing as asking which snake is the most venomous?

I'm pretty sure poison and venom are different, right?

We hear about poisonous snakes and poisonous spiders all the time.

But usually what people mean is venomous.

Venomous animals inject toxins into their victims,

while poisonous animals are toxic when they're eaten.

So which snake is the most poisonous?

Not the Cobra or the Mamba or the Krait?

They're all deadly, but they're all venomous.

The only poisonous snake here is the normally harmless Garter snake.

If something's dangerous because of a toxic bite or sting,

well, that's what scientists call venomous.

The snake with the world's deadliest venom is the Inland Taipan, also called

the Western Taipan, or the fierce snake.

Fierce is right because this snake's fangs can deliver a deadly combination of neurotoxins,

procoagulate, and myotoxins that can quickly kill

a human who doesn't receive medical treatment.

And it's not just snakes and spiders that have venom.

Venomous animals include stingrays, scorpion fish, gila monsters, bees, scorpions,

and jellyfish among others.

There are even cute, furry animals that happen to be venomous.

The male platypus has fang-like spurs on its ankles that inject a painful venom.

Poisonous animals are a little different.

A poisonous animal doesn't make you sick by biting you.

It makes you sick when you bite it.

Poisonous animals have toxins in their skin or other tissues that attack a predator's body

when touched or ingested.

These toxins may not be injected into you the way that venoms are,

but they can still be deadly.

Poisonous animals include most amphibians, such as frogs, toads, newts, and salamanders.

Those newts and salamanders, by the way, happen to be the reason that the Garter

snake won our little competition earlier.

Garter snakes eat these poisonous amphibians, and their toxins

build up in the Garter snake's body.

Hey, waste not, want not, right?

News24 - Man Utd fans spot intriguing difference between Solskjaer and Pochettino - Duration: 4:39.

Manchester United chiefs had targeted Mauricio Pochettino as their ideal choice to be the club's next long-term manager after sacking Jose Mourinho in December

But caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given the top brass at Old Trafford food for thought since taking charge, putting together a run of eight straight victories

The Norwegian's impact has been immediate and that, coupled with Tottenham's huge compensation figure for Pochettino, has put the man on loan from Molde in pole position to take the job on a permanent basis this summer

United's 3-1 win at Arsenal on Friday night ensured safe passage into the FA Cup fourth round, while Solskjaer has also led the side back into top four contention

By contrast, Pochettino's Spurs - admittedly without a host of star men due to injury - were dumped out of the cup by Crystal Palace on Sunday, just days after losing a League Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge on penalties

Unless Spurs win the Champions League - they meet Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, while United face PSG - then it is set to be another season without a trophy

And comments made by both managers over recent days have got United fans talking, as they look towards the future

The key difference they've noticed is the two managers very different takes on trophies

Speaking after the loss to Crystal Palace, Pochettino declared: ""Again we are going to create a debate that to win a trophy is going to help the club

"I don't agree with that. That only builds your ego.   "The most important thing for Tottenham is being consistently in the top four and playing Champions League

"  In stark contrast to his South American counterpart, Soslkjaer, speaking on Monday, declared: "We've got the Champions League, we've got the FA Cup, we can't just say top-four and that's it

"We've got to look at, 'Can we win something this year?' And I go into every single game as United manager thinking we can win

"We're about winning trophies, of course we are."  With regards Pochettino's words, Solskjaer added: "I think every manager wants to win every game, so I don't think that's the point he was making

"[But] If you win trophies that's a fantastic day for everyone in the club," said Solskjaer

"It's just the best time of your life, that day when you win, because you never know when the next one is going to come

"The manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] always said, 'Enjoy whatever trophy you win', but it's not up to me to discuss what anyone else says

"I'm just saying that we, here at this club, we're looking to win trophies."  But would Pochettino's thoughts on the subject of silverware change if he were in the Old Trafford hotseat, with bigger budgets and greater demand from fans?  One fan declared: "You can't compare Spurs to United ambition - did you really expect Ole to say we are fighting only for top 4?"  " clubs with different mentalities and targets" said another

But others saw things differently.  "Ole has the winning attitude," said one. "Ole>poch," stated a second

"And with those few remarks; ladies and gentlemen I say give Ole the job!" offered a third

Certainly its an interesting difference between the two at this moment in time.  But is it something that circumstance dictates? Or would Pochettino be saying something very different if he moved this summer?
