Hey and welcome to What's Brewing in Jax.

Every week I take a look at what's happening in the craft beer scene in the Jacksonville

area.

I'm at Really Good Beer Stop on 3rd street in Jax Beach and today I'm having a Tampa

style lager from Cigar City

It's Summer, and many of my friends have vacation right now.

But guess what.

You don't need to go anywhere to relax and have a good time, you can do that right in

your own backyard.

For you creative women out there, here's a cool idea that I thought looked awesome.

There's a Ladies Night at Wicked Barley.

This week Southern Roots is hosting a class where you get to plant your own Succulent

Wine Bottle Planter!

When you buy a ticket, everything you need for the project is included and you'll also

get a pint of beer from Wicked Barley's tap list!

That's on thursday, Aug 2nd at 7:30 at Wicked Barley.

You can get your tickets through eventbrite.

It's still time to enjoy Summer, and at Southern Swells their doing a can release

for a beer with a name that sounds like salt, beach and ocean and something for people who

are into bike riding.

It's called "Riding on bikes with really large tires".

Now, I'm not really into that, ride on large tires.

I have a road bike, but the beach is full of those fat tire bikes.

It's a thing!

"Riding on Bikes with Really Large Tires" is a double IPA, so that's not really for

me either.

But I know many of you just love the IPAs.

But Southern Swells is also releasing another beer, "Sour Peach Kids".

This is definitely something I want to try.

I love sours.

You can buy the cans on release day, and there's even special glass ware - but if you're

not into all that, both beers will be available on draft.

The can release takes place on Saturday Aug 4th starting at noon.

If you've been to one of the big box stores lately, you've probably noticed that they're

already stocked for back to school.

Many parents with young kids are looking forward to school start and the normal schedule, older

kids are not always sharing that joy.

My friends at Fun4firstcoastkids.com are planning a big celebration at Wicked Barley for both

parents and their kids.

You can let the kids play with the oversized games in the beer garden, play with sand toys

on the beach along Goodby's Creek.

Also, One free kid's meal for kids under 12 with the purchase of an adult entrée.

That sounds like an event that both adults and kids can enjoy.

The back to school celebration take place on sunday Aug 5 from 2 pm - 7pm at Wicked

Barley.

That's it for this time.

Now if you want to try a Tampa style lager from Cigar City you need to hurry here because

at really good beer stop they rotate their 20 beers on tap all the time so there's always

something new.

What Is Music - Why does music give us goosebumps? - Duration: 14:05.

GIRL: Absolutely.

Particular types of music.

Sometimes. When it's really, really good.

DAN: Yeah? I feel the resonance.

Depends what mood I'm in. Yeah.

Like, sad music. Maybe, like, music that reminds me of a certain...

Like a memory. Yeah.

When there's, like, a really good kick,

I really do like that feeling of... you kind of really immerse yourself.

If I'm cold, yes. (LAUGHS)

Other than that... not that I'm aware of.

Hi. I'm Dan. I'm Linda.

And welcome to What Is Music?

And in this episode,

we're gonna be looking at how music gives you goosebumps.

But first, Linda, what do we actually know about goosebumps?

Well, goosebumps happen when our hairs stand on end.

It's an ancestral connection to furrier friends of ours

who, when they were in a threatened situation,

they looked bigger and more scary.

And having the hair stand on end

also has the advantage of thermal insulation.

Now, over time, this becomes built in to how we behave.

This idea of frisson -

these very strong, intense emotions

that we connect now to shivers

and chills and thrills -

still activate this physical response.

So why is it that music can re-create

some of these physiological responses?

Goosebumps come when there's a sudden change

in our emotional state -

a kind of 'aha' moment of emotionality

where we feel suddenly connected with the music.

We especially feel connected with music

when that music is personally meaningful.

Music that we heard during an important time of our development,

which is called the reminiscence bump,

where music meant so much to our identity

and developing a sense of self.

When we hear that music, it brings back a flood of emotions

and a flood of memories.

And there are ways that we might be able

to trigger these emotional responses using music.

Other emotions, like happiness, sadness,

there are fairly definite ways and almost universal ways.

Goosebumps is far more particular.

You'd be looking at changes in the loudness of the music,

changes in the tempo,

an unexpected harmonic change.

There's also the important factor of being familiar.

So it seems like there's still a lot of research to be done on this topic.

There's a lot of theories that we should be testing out here, Dan.

Yeah. Well, actually, I've got a plan for that.

(ALARM BEEPS)

Well, welcome to the goosebumps sphere.

I love what you've done with the place, Dan.

So, we're gonna be testing what kind of music gives us goosebumps.

OK. And so we got the chair

and we've got a macro lens on this camera here right next to your arm,

so it's gonna pick up the moment any goosebumps come through,

so there'll be no faking it.

We've got the magnificent...

This is amazing! ..helmet apparatus over here...

I wanna look at this properly.

..which... This is incredible.

Oh, it does...absolutely nothing.

Oh! But it looks great.

(LAUGHS) OK!

You've always been about fashion. That's what everybody says about me.

We've each got five songs with different musical elements

to give the other person goosebumps.

We filled out some very personal surveys

to work out the best songs to use.

Winner will get bragging rights.

So, Round 1 - it's all about sudden crescendos.

When a piece of music suddenly gets louder, it often causes goosebumps.

You can hear this in Pink Floyd's The Post War Dream.

(MID-TEMPO, MELLOW MUSIC PLAYS)

(DRUM POUNDS, INTENSITY BUILDS) # Wish I could turn you

# Back into a stranger... #

I feel emotional but I don't...

I think that's one you won.

I was actually trying, though. Yeah?

I remember putting so much meaning to that song

because of the relationship that I was in,

and, like, moving in and out of.

But, yeah, I guess I'm just an unfeeling...

(LAUGHS) Yeah. And you know what?

I'm actually gonna take this off because...

Look, fair enough. Gonna throw you a bone.

I think...I think it's affecting my emotional levels.

So it DOES do something. It does.

Alright, so, Round 2. Alright.

It's all about the long, sustained note.

AKA the money note -

big, belting notes from singers like Whitney Houston and Freddie Mercury,

but also things like super-high violin melodies

and orchestral music.

(VIOLIN PLAYS SMOOTH, SUSTAINED, POIGNANT MELODY)

Alright. How'd you go?

I don't think I got goosebumps. Yeah, no.

OK. Hit me with another one. Alright.

# 'Cause you're nothing to me... #

Sometimes a chord progression or key change in a song

is really distinctive.

You might not see it coming but the unexpected harmony is a perfect fit,

and it gets you every time.

(LOW, ELECTRONIC THRUMMING)

(PITCH RAISES)

Again. Nada.

Nothin'.

I could pass a lie detector test. (LAUGHS)

Alright, new plan.

So we're none from three so far. Mm.

It's time to really up the ante on this.

What are you doing? So, this is a blindfold.

It's actually... No, it's not - it's a scarf.

Yeah. (LAUGHS)

For today, it's a blindfold. OK. (LAUGHS)

OK. Alright. Can you see anything?

Nup.

So, we're gonna try an emotional minor song.

More often than not, the type of music that gives us chills

is in a minor key.

Some people call that the sad one.

(SLOW MELODY IN MINOR KEY PLAYS, WOMAN SINGS SUSTAINED NOTE)

(LAUGHS)

(DELICATE PIANO MELODY, SWEEPING ORCHESTRAL STRING NOTES)

What is going on right now with my arm?

I think I got goosebumps. Yeah?

Could you see any? S... Yes. Absolutely. (LAUGHS)

Definitely feeling something happening here.

Yeah, I'm gonna call that. (PING!)

Oh, my God.

I can't believe you got it

using a song from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack!

What else is gonna give you goosebumps?

I seriously... I was like, thinking about break-ups before,

thinking about other things - like, real adult stuff,

and then that one was the one.

So it's nostalgia, in a way.

It's like a memory of, like, your early teens

and you coming back to it as an adult

that's kind of tipped you over the line.

To just do it with that Des'ree song... (LAUGHS)

Yeah. Yeah. Well, a win for me.

OK. You've got one final chance, my friend.

Mm-hm. Best of luck.

Actually, wait.

Uh, we can do away with the blindfold

because I can go one better than that.

We're pulling out all stops for the final one. You ready?

(LAUGHS) Dan!

One of the most important things about music giving you goosebumps

is you.

Music that's special to you.

(IMMERSIVE TRIP-HOP JAZZ FUSION MUSIC PLAYS)

# I just want to be a woman... #

No goosebumps. No goosebumps.

So, still nothing with that one. Nothing.

Although that Portishead song is one that I love so much,

and even though I listened to that song

from when I was, like, 14 years old...

Mm.

..but I feel like I listen to it too often now

that it feels almost everyday to me.

It's not one particular... So it's no longer nostalgic?

Yeah. It's not nostalgic anymore - it's just...an omnipresent...

Yeah. Ugh. Well, my research has let me down.

Well, you got one. Yeah, one.

But we're gonna turn it. You ready to get into your...

(SIGHS) ..chair of delight?

Yep. My body is ready. (LAUGHS) OK.

(CHUCKLES) Your head's too big!

It actually... Yeah. It actually is.

Alright. So... (LAUGHS)

My turn now.

You made me get goosebumps once. Mm.

Round 1 - sudden crescendo.

(VIBRANT ORCHESTRAL MUSIC REACHES CRESCENDO)

(MUSIC QUIETENS)

(CHUCKLES) I don't know. What do you reckon?

I certainly had a strong emotional reaction.

You seemed so happy.

Yeah. I love that piece of music.

I don't think there was any goosebumps.

I definitely felt coldness in my arm, though.

Alright. Alright, alright. Alright, Round 2.

Long, sustained notes. Mm-hm.

Here we go. I'm ready.

(GENTLE, LILTING ORCHESTRAL MUSIC)

(MUSIC SWELLS)

If you didn't get that, you're never gonna see goosebumps.

That was 100% definitely. Seriously?

Seriously. Goosebumps?

Yeah. Why can't I tell?

There was a lot on the back of my neck.

Really? And some on my arm.

OK, I need to have a camera on the back of your neck.

Yeah. (LAUGHS) So, that's Star Wars.

That's the Binary Sunset, the Force Theme, by Joel Williams

in its most emotional playing,

and that hits, I reckon, musical love

and also childhood nostalgia.

Like, that's really the big musical swell of the first Star Wars film,

which I watched over and over and over.

Yep, ticking all the boxes pretty much, I think.

Yes! (LAUGHS)

Yes!

Wow! Ooh. Yeah.

(PING!) (LAUGHS)

Excellent triangle skills. So we're even.

So, if I get one more... Oh.

..I win. What? So quickly! Even.

I know. I know. Argh.

Unexpected harmonies. Alright.

Surprise.

(ETHEREAL MUSIC, GENTLE FEMALE VOCALS SING IN MINOR KEY)

Nothing. Nothing.

It's a song. OK. It's a song.

Mm-hm. Alright.

Fine. Do you remember what happened in Round 4?

I beat you? (LAUGHS)

(LAUGHS)

I got goosebumps and you put this on me.

Oh, yeah.

So it should be tighter? Yeah, I think so.

Alright. OK. So, this is minor keys. Mm-hm.

OK. Perhaps sad music.

(GRAND, INTENSE ORCHESTRAL MELODY IN MINOR KEY PLAYS)

So, that's interesting. What?

No goosebumps, but my heart beat way faster. (CHUCKLES)

Really? Yeah.

If you were measuring my pulse, you would have seen a huge spike.

I'm gonna count that as a half point.

Yeah. (LAUGHS)

Wait - that means you're in front.

No, definitely not. Round 5!

(UNEARTHLY, EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC, ETHEREAL FEMALE VOCALS)

So, what happened during that last one?

I had some reaction.

I enjoyed the soundscape of that song,

and there's a lot in there that's quite emotional and beautiful.

I don't think it really translated into full goosebumps, though.

'Cause I chose that one 'cause that's, like,

one of your favourite, you know, sentimental pieces.

From your "survey says". (CHUCKLES) From the survey, yeah.

So just to re-establish these scores - Dan got one.

I was one out of five. One ping.

And then I got one...and a half. Yeah.

One goosebump and then one raised heartbeat, which we count as a half.

I...I... So the winner is...

Finish the sentence. I think it's...I think it's you.

It's Linda. It's Carmelinda... Yeah. (LAUGHS)

..the goosebump champion. Yeah.

Isn't it so funny that the one that we responded to,

that properly got goosebumps,

was the reminiscence bump?

Yeah, absolutely. I think there's something so key about memory.

The melancholy that you feel when you listen to something

or you have that really strong visual accompaniment as well.

So, both of ours were for these movies

that we'd watched over and over again as kids.

I also think it's incredibly important that, you know,

there's images associated with the music that we're hearing in our mind.

And do you reckon that you could force goosebumps?

Nup. No way. I don't think so. I don't think you can force goosebumps.

Do you? Mmm... I was trying.

I was trying really hard, actually.

I was trying to give you a point or two.

But the more I was trying to,

the more that I found that I was forcing myself to cry.

Wow. Like, under that beautiful blindfold

that you put on me,

I was welling up. Huh.

So it's easier to cry to music, do you think?

Yeah. Yeah.

So if that had been the challenge... Right. Maybe that's next time.

Old cry-baby. Yeah. (LAUGHS)

..you might've won. Next time, crying challenge.

HomeServe What We Do - Duration: 1:50.

[MUSIC PLAYING] When things break down in your home, do you know how to fix them or

who to call?

Homeowners across the country run into home repair emergencies every day without a home

repair plan in place.

When things break down naturally over time, most homeowners don't know what's covered

by their insurance or what they are responsible for.

For example, homeowners are typically responsible for wires carrying electricity to outlets,

fixtures, and appliances; pipes that move fresh water and sewage out; and all heating

and cooling systems, including gas lines and water heaters.

Home repair emergencies often occur without warning.

Being prepared with an affordable repair plan from HomeServe can help avoid the frustration

of urgently locating contractors, juggling multiple bids, and finding the best price.

Here's how it works.

Choose from HomeServe's plumbing, electrical, and heating and cooling repair plan options.

When a breakdown happens, call our 24/7 hotline, and we'll send over a local, licensed, insured

technician as soon as possible.

We'll take care of the covered repairs and pay the bill up to the benefit amount.

HomeServe has over 3.5 million customers in North America and growing.

We successfully completed 450,000 jobs in the last year.

That's 1 homeowner every 71 seconds.

Plus, over the last decade, we've saved our customers over half a billion dollars on expensive

emergency repairs.

What happens when you stop paying credit card bills - Duration: 2:19.

What happens when you stop paying your credit-card bills?

With overall US household debt increasing by 11% in the past decade debt is a way of life for

many Americans. While don't spend above your means will always be sound advice

it can be difficult to put into practice since household debt keeps increasing

while income just doesn't keep up. The cost of living and rapid growth in

medical and housing costs is dwarfing income growth making it challenging to

meet obligations without leaning on credit cards and loans. But, if you are

overwhelmed by credit card debt you may wonder what happens if you simply stop

paying your credit card bills? Well your minimum payments will increase because

you have to make up the payments you've missed plus late fees are added making

your balances rise even faster your interest rates can increase the penalty

rate after your account become 60 days past due each month your minimum payment

gets larger as more late fees added to your balance. When the penalty rate kicks

in your finance charges will also increase the result is that your

outstanding balance and payments you need to catch up gets larger every month

you're late it gets more expensive to catch up the more behind you are.

Even after you catch up the penalty rate will remain in effect until you've made six

consecutive payments on time. After that the interest rate must go down for your

existing balance but can remain in effect for new purchases. If you have

multiple credit cards with the same company those interest rates may

increase too, if you wind up in collections due to non-payment it will

stay in your credit reports for seven years from the date the account

originally became delinquent. Unpaid collections accounts may eventually land

you in court or at least with the court summons. Lawsuits for collection accounts

are a common and efficient way for collection agencies to get payment

never ignore of court summons about debt. These lawsuits can result in wage

garnishment a bank levy or lien on your property if you are struggling with debt

[ENG SUB] WHAT DID I DO? 내가 다이어트에 미쳐 결국 저지른 행동 ㅠㅠ - Duration: 3:10.

Hello! Welcome to BoBalance's Channel!

You can do it, Bo can do it, and We can do it! :D

Today, I am going to talk shortly about what I did due to my diet.

and I'd like to create a small section in my channel called "Diet Talk"

So, it would be basically like talking about diet tips or difficulty of diet and so on..

First is first, Let me show you What I just did due to my diet!

Then, Here I am lol

One

Two

Three

Four

Five

Six

Seven

Eight

Nine

Ten

Actually, I bought 2 more pairs of leggings lol

Yet, I ordered XS for those two pairs of leggings (I was supposed to order S)

So, I returned them.

Originally, I ordered 12 workout clothings, and I returned 2 so now I have 10 of them lol

More importantly, Those are not cheap

(Oh my money....)

The cheapest one was 14$ US

and Most expensive one was... I'd rather not to say (I am afraid of my parents to see this lol)

But there is one thing that I wanted to point out here is that.....

Actually, I usually wear medium (US clothing I meant)

When I wear medium size, they are a little bit loose on me.

But, When I wear small size, there are too tight on me.

so I am between size medium and small.

Which means that in order for me to wear the clothes that I bought I need to lose 5~8 kg (about 10~15 pounds)

(They were on sale, so I could help myself TT^TT lol)

I just wanted to try a pair of leggings that I got

I put my leg in one side of leggings, and I took it off right away.

cuz I almost ripped my leggings off (I just bought it, man lol)

so I just talked about what i did last week.

Until these workout clothing fit me,

I think I would maintain the portion of food I consume as I showed you from the last video

I am still in binge eating recovery journey.

As I showed you from last video, I will consistently be eating 3 meals, 1 or 2 times of snack in daily.

Plus, I will keep working out as well!

I am sure there are some easy and fast ways to lose weight.

Yet, I'd like to go on my precise diet.

"My precise diet means that I completely recover my issue, prevent from Yoyo diet, and do this happy diet"

When I eventually am able to wear all the workout clothes, I promise that I will do all the workout clothes review.

You can see the review if you click the subscribe button down below! so make sure you hit that subscribe button!

Then, I will see you guys next time! BYEEEEEEEE

What is freedom? | J. Krishnamurti [Italian w/English subtitles] - Duration: 2:14.

What is freedom?

Freedom to do what we want

freedom to choose a job

a woman

to go where we want.

To make love with whomever and however we want.

What do we do with all this freedom?

We use it to express ourselves

to do whatever we want.

We have all the freedom in the world

even to drop bombs in the name of democracy

and we think that where there is choice there is freedom.

Even a psychologist will encourage you to satisfy your pleasures

but if we are really aware, we know there is no choice.

Awareness is action.

It is only when there are doubts

uncertainties

that you begin to choose.

Choices then prevent freedom.

So, where can I find freedom?

Is it outside or within myself?

If I have a reason to love somebody,

is this true love?

If I feel attached because it takes away my loneliness

and makes me feel powerful,

is that love?

Selfishness is not love.

If you look deep enough

you'll find a beauty whose quality and intensity

gives way to compassion.

Spain What to do in Seville Plaza de Espana Seville Cathedral Parque de Maria Luisa & Horse Carriage - Duration: 15:12.

and we are off to catch the bus

I found a bus stop think I'm picking one in the right direction just got to cross the

road here carefully

there's people sitting at the bus stop so that's a good sign it

means there'll be a bus so let's hope it's going in the right direction. I think it should be that way

here's me bus stop

let's see which way it's going

to be honest I don't recognize any of the places

good news here's my bus

well I'm on number 21

now I just have to make sure I get off right stop

It'd not too far.

And it goes round

so if I miss it I'll just go round again

welcome to Plaza de espana

isn't it beautiful there's a little like

our moat that goes around like a canal where you can take rowboats out there's this

beautiful fountain in the middle, amazing historic buildings and there's some park

that I'll show you there you can take a horse ride around the area or around parts

the city in a horse and carriage

it's blazing hot, nice cool breeze off a

fountain and it's nice and cool over there in the shade

let me show you around a little bit

so that's the plaza de españa in Servilla it's very beautiful

that was a fantastic morning we have had walking around there now wandering through the

gardens behind into the city area to find something to eat

and rounding up evening at the Plaza outside the cathedral in Serville

it is beautiful

let me show you that it's a very popular places lots of restaurants

lots of tapas bar lots of places to eat lots of friendly people the cathedral is

lit up let me show you around it's really

beautiful and then I'm gonna find my way home on a bus, hope the bus is still running

can you believe... have a look around first then I'll get back to you

Surprise!

I'm lost in Serville.

It's a nice lost though I'm just wandering down

there's little hotels I've wandered off the Main Street

taking a shortcut through the little alleys

streets to find my way to either

I'm either going to end up at a flomenco bar or a my

bus stop

at the moment it's looking like neither

the trouble is I looked down the

street back down there

and Ithought ooh pretty lights

there's things going on things to

see, so much to show you

okay let me check the map again and see

if I'm going vaguely the right direction

okay first place we found it was Carboneria

which is the flamenco dancing bar

I hope so let's go down this darkened alley

the handwritten sign and see what I find

I can hear sounds singing and dancing

oh and it looks busy

gonna be lucky to get a good seat here

well the cantina the Carboneria was great fun packed but can't show any

footage because we're not allowed to film in there, so I did record some of

the sounds I can play those to you hopefully somewhere else I'll find some

flamenco dancers and to show you

so it's now midnight I'm now wandering around

random alleys, only vaguely lost

hoping the buses are still running

heading to the road to the bus stop

down the strange little road

let's see, errmmmm

I think we still need to go this way

every now and again you come out on a bigger road and then you think you know

where you are and then you go down a side alley and then you're lost again

so left or right?

oh boy, so right? or left? Who knows? Not me

good news no longer completely lost and I found a bus stop and it says a 21

which is the bus I took here hopefully I'm now going in the other direction is due in

six minutes, all the information is up here

bus number where it's going and how many

minutes before arrival

now five minutes

now I have to remember where to get off

I should have paid more notice plus it was light when I left and it's dark now and things look

so different so I'm gonna guess the approximate distance my time and hope I

hop off fairly near my accommodation and then could find my way there

this night may not be over yet but so far I'm currently unlost and waiting for

a bus

good news, I think I've made it

looks familiar I think I go down here turn right

turn left

yep hey even got off at the right stop didn't quite fall asleep so

just down here

must be quiet, don't want to wake anyone up

goodness knows what time it is

but yeah that was actually quite easy I don't know what time the buses

stop running but what's quite grateful there was one

one euro 20 for a

15 minute ride as opposed to at 8 or 9 euro taxi plus any late fees

I've just got to walk this last little bit home

I'm sure I'm in the right place it's just down here be home before we know it

What Is Music - Why do we love a good beat? - Duration: 10:35.

(TECHNO BEAT)

Hey, I'm Linda.

And I'm Dan, and this is What Is Music?

Dan, do you like a good groove?

I do, actually.

I think rhythm is so important to what I like about music.

Maybe even more important than melody, actually.

I'm the same.

I am all about the rhythm a lot of the time.

I love this idea of us having a heartbeat, having a pulse,

people having a cadence to the way that they walk and they talk

in everyday life.

Yeah, I think rhythm is really intrinsically human, actually,

and that's why this whole episode is about why we love a good beat.

I went to the MARCS Institute to find out how our brains react to a beat.

One of the main functions

of the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development

at Western Sydney Uni

is to study how music and dance communicate universally.

If you think about music generally, it's a time-based art form,

and rhythm is the patterning of time

and beat is something by which rhythmic durations can be measured.

We like a good beat for three reasons.

One is it makes us move, almost literally.

Secondly, a good beat is predictable,

and the brain likes that.

The brain is a rhythm generating machine in some sense.

It can lock on to the regularity of a good beat.

And the third reason is that

one of the key systems in the brain for processing the beat

is involved also in regulating the sense of reward and motivation.

To see how my body reacts to beats,

I'm gonna be tested by Peter's students, Tomas and Cecile.

OK, so tell me, what is happening?

So, we're going to do an EEG experiment with you.

EEG measures the electrical activity in the brain,

and we're about to measure my huge noggin.

It's gonna be a small one. It's a small one.

Perhaps it's just my ego that's huge.

It is quite natural for humans to perceive beat in music.

We often synchronise just by tapping our foot or bobbing our head.

(FLUTE PLAYS)

So do you want me to do that or...

I want you to try to focus on the beat

as if you were sort of dancing to music

but at the same time try not to move with the music.

I want to put a cool wig on now.

So I'm about to be played three different tracks

and I have to sit really still and stare at this little dot

for the next half-hour.

Everything alright there? Great.

OK.

(ELECTRONIC FUNK BEAT)

KELLER: The body reacts to the beat

because the brain regions and the brain systems in fact

that are activated the beat follow two pathways.

So of course we're processing sound.

The auditory sensory system is activated.

But this is very closely linked in humans to the movement system,

the motor system of the brain.

Therefore when we hear a rhythmic beat,

it can also harness or call into activation

the movement system of the brain and trigger movement.

At this point I want to move so badly,

but I can't and we're only halfway through -

because science likes to take its sweet time.

Our bodies and in fact brains recognise beat

through a phenomenon that is referred to as entrainment.

It's been observed in biological species, fireflies synchronising,

frogs and crickets, but they don't change their tempo

or the rate at which they are producing a beat at will.

Whereas humans are able to do this, we're able to get faster,

get slower, double the tempo, halve the tempo.

I think that makes us special

in terms of our beat-keeping capacities.

Score one for the humans.

We are beat machines.

Now, fast forward a couple of weeks.

Let's see how my brain did.

Hi, Linda. This is Dr Keller.

Hello.

Hi, your test results are in. OK.

The good news is your brain locks onto the musical beat.

Yay!

So we prepared this little figure

where we logged your brain activity.

So in Daft Punk, large numbers of neurons become synchronised

at this particular frequency.

We got such a nice strong response.

When the Daft Punk song came on, I knew it

so I was dancing to it in my head.

And the picture is a little bit different for the other two pieces.

This broken beat track from the '90s.

Yeah.

(IRREGULAR DRUM BEATS)

The rhythm there was complex.

Most people have difficulty to actually find the beat

and synchronise to it

because it's not very prominent in the rhythm in the actual music.

But Linda actually did find the beat,

but it's not as strong as the Daft Punk.

Because that sounded more complex to me,

I found myself paying attention heaps more to find the beat.

But when you look at the very right, that track,

there was a very clear beat.

So we would expect that your brain tracks this pretty well,

but I don't know what happened there.

Your brain wasn't interested in that one for some reason.

It's a mystery.

That one to me felt kind of like an easy beat,

so I didn't pay attention that much.

So maybe that's what it was.

Rank my brain.

What was it, like...

Was it good at locking into the beat? Did it work?

I think your brain is pretty, pretty high.

(LAUGHS) Yes!

It's a very nice response.

Congratulations. Alright.

See you, guys. OK, see you. Bye.

I was having to sit so still and stare at one spot on a screen.

It was so hard.

But you can still see

that your brain is looking on to the rhythm too.

Yeah, for me, in terms of the songs that I didn't know so much,

it was actually where my brain was paying way more attention.

So essentially the lesson for me was that

you can train your brain to lock onto rhythms.

I mean, just moving away from the science for a moment,

I mean, I've been a musician for a while,

I can count and play in pretty complicated rhythms

and time signatures,

but I've never really been able to articulate that to my body, I guess.

Do you mean dancing?

Yeah, dancing.

Do you want to do a dance class with me?

No.

WOMAN: Five, six, seven, and...

(ELECTRONIC BEAT)

And double, double.

Single, single. Double, double.

So why do you think that everybody should dance?

I think everyone should dance 'cause it's a lot more fun than running.

(BOTH LAUGH)

Yeah.

And so what's special about rhythm?

We have a natural inclination tow rhythm that even if someone's like,

"I can't dance, I have no rhythm," and some people don't,

but it can still help to organise a pace of something.

It's something that we can all feel.

So you want to think about both your foot going out

and your arm going out, and then they're crossing over.

So, out, cross, out, in.

And out, cross, side.

(ELECTRONIC BEAT)

For me, the different types of music that I've listened to or engaged to

have also played quite a big part in identity

and things that I've felt like I've related to.

I remember listening to punk when I was, like, a teenager

and feeling angsty

but also too listening to a lot of N.W.A. and Dr Dre and hip-hop.

The most instant connection was taping songs off the radio

and then making up dances to them,

or taping songs from the television and then learning the movements.

Mostly watching the lines that they would make with their body

and what they were using, what objects they were dancing with

and I guess it kind of spurred a greater trajectory into it.

But, I mean, most of the time when I'm making dance now,

the sound or the music would support what it is that I'm making

rather than the other way around.

Next song? Easy.

So now that you guys have mastered the slower,

we're gonna move on to a slightly faster song,

and this song I chose because of the lyricism in it

and I guess we're kind of moving through the lyricism of the rapping,

but also too doing a lot of repetitive grooves.

So a similar movement to what we were doing before

but we're just gonna try and short cut it in a couple of ways.

Yeah? I like short cuts.

(LAUGHS) So do I. (CHUCKLES)

And one, one, and double.

Boom, boom, and back.

And slow, hop. And slow, hop.

One, two, three, four.

And ooh-ooh, slide.

Ooh-ooh, slide.

Yeah. Oh, I did that before.

So, what does dance mean to you?

It is so many things.

My career and something that I enjoy very, very much.

But usually the definition that I give to somebody else

is the organisation of time and space and my autonomy over that.

So when I'm telling you how to dance, will be organising time,

or timing,

and the space that we're in.

So time travel? Mm-hm.

(LAUGHS) Pretty much, yes.

(LAUGHS)

So, how did that feel?

Yeah, actually surprisingly good.

But you know what - the next morning I woke up

and I sort of found myself still moving in the same way.

Still thinking about the moves. You were going through it.

Yeah! That's totally a dancer's thing.

Because you've been a dancer for ages, right?

Yeah, I was quite hard-core with dancing

from the time I was about nine until about 21, 22,

and even now I dip in and out of classes.

I love it.

I mean, I think that kind of experience helps you

articulating the rhythm to your body.

You know what you're doing. You've got to practise, Dan.

Are you gonna come back and do another class with me?

(LAUGHS) Sure.

Well, it's clear our brains love a good beat.

It locks onto it, it helps your body move along,

and how well you move is then up to you.

What to take with you to Mount Athos - Duration: 10:25.

Hallo my friends

I will visit Holy Mount Athos soon

And i will show you what items i will take with me.

This time i will stay only for two days

so i will take fewer things with me.

First of all, the backpack

This one is light

but have a lot of slots

so you can put many things in here

but is very light

Lets see what i will put in here.

It's also good that it opens all the way, to put in and out the clothes easy.

First of all i will pack my pair of trousers.

it's good for walking

We need a long pait of trousers

it better has many pockets,

to fit all sort of things.

and it''s got a rubber so i don't need a belt.

so it holds very good

We must always weat long trousers inside Athos

Ιt's forbidden to wear shorts, because its a holy place.

In it goes

Then we put in the t-shirt

Take one for each day

It better be one color

not to bright colors

because again it's a holy place

and we must be modest.

The underwear, i always use boxers for more comfort

because i walk a lot

and this help you not to get injured

Next is the shocks

They have to be thick, so the shoe dosen't hurt us.

and also get a good pair of sport shoes

or special shoes for hiking

I use short one's too because i want the skin to breath.

In it goes

Then a towel for the face

It's necessary because they don't always

give you a towel only for you

so we take a small towel

to fit it easy inside the backpack

ok, i thing enought clothes

I close the clothes compartment

I think i will take this book with me too

It has a lot of info about Athos

like what to see in every monastery

maps, e.t.c.

I always use this guide.

In it goes too.

Then i will take this bag with the coffee

As i said in an other video usally there is no coffee at the monasteries

maybe at the capital Karyes

there are some coffee shops

You can even get esspreso there

and at Dafni there is one coffee shop,

but not at the monasteries.

So i will take my shaker

and esspeso sticks

and brown sugan in sticks

mix it with water to make a coffee in the morning.

or in the afternoon before the church.

I will also take a powerbank

because you can't find a plug, or even electricity on some monasteries

and a USB charger with a cable

and with this i will charge the mobile phone,

the cameras, e.t.c.

I will get this small bags for the dirty clothes.

I put them in the bag, so they don't smell bad.

Very important is a flash light

because on the night time there is no light

we can use it early in the morning, when we go to the Church

or if we want to go to the toilet at night

this one is very bright

2 scales and a sos light

It only takes 1 battery and lasts for long because its led.

I put it in also.

I will take this multi tool with me.

I use it very often

Some times i make a sandwich

we need the knife to cut the bread and stuff

It's got a lot of thinks, saws

pair of scissors

openers for cans

bottle opener

for wine bottle

screwdriver

ok it's cheap too, you can hang it

from the belt or the backpack

If you want to see the tests of some of the stuff i use

go to my other Youtube channel: anasteli tech vlog

You can see the link on the side.

I will take this small bag too.

to put various things

Toothbrush

a small toothpaste

tweezers

This was useful because last year i steped on a sea urchin

so i take this with me just in case

i need to take out any thorns

a shaving cream

my razor blade

a aftershave cream, small to fit inside

a small hotel sampoo bottle

and for sure a body cream

I use wax cream

its very good

You can find this over there made from the monasteries

They have also hurbs inside

I also take ear plugs

because the other people snore and it's difficult to sleep with out them.

An other neccesety item is a hat

I took this one that has this cloth on the back

Because i burn on the back of the neck

even when i use sun lotion

so this hat

also protects the neck

and if you want you can remove it

and leave only the hat.

It also folds to put it in your pocket or bag.

Unfold it and wear

You must have a hat for sure, the sun is very strong there.

My back pack is now ready

It's very light

this is very good for the walking

I will also have a waist bag

i got a bigger one this year

you can put more things in here

lots of slots

it's got a back one to put money and id card.

You must have your id card or passport to enter mount Athos.

So you put the stuff you need the most in here

like the flash light

Your id card, diamonitirio, phone, camera e.t.c.

My friends thank you for watching, press Like

and leave a comment

What Happened When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Met One of Their Favorite Reality TV Stars? - Duration: 3:12.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are showing the world that even royals can't get enough reality TV

The Voice Kids finalist Donel Mangena appeared on the U.K.'s Lorraine talk show on Friday, where he spoke about meeting the royal couple while performing at Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday celebration at London's Royal Albert Hall in April — and revealed their interaction went far beyond his wildest dreams

"I was expecting like a handshake, and Meghan Markle ran to me, gave me a hug

She screamed my name, like, 'Donel!' " the 16-year-old shared.  The duo appeared to be fans of the televised singing competition, with Mangena revealing that Harry told him "Our money's on you," to which the teen jokingly replied, "Thanks, Harry

No pressure."  Mangena ultimately finished as runner-up to 14-year-old Daniel Davies

Harry invited the young singer to his grandmother's birthday celebration, where Mangena performed his rendition of Pharrell's hit "Happy

"  "It now gives me great pleasure to introduce a star of the future, Donel Mangena," the 33-year-old royal said during his lead-in, sharing a smile and a friendly handshake with the singer before heading off the stage

Mangena said on Lorraine, "People went crazy over the handshake. Like straight after going off stage and getting ready to go home, I looked at my phone and see people messaging me and Twitter going, 'The handshake!'"  Aside from members of the royal family, Mangena was blown away by meeting fellow performers like Sting and Shaggy

Despite having a wedding watched by millions around the world, Harry and Meghan have proved to be a rather normal couple when out of the spotlight

Even when the Queen's grandson popped the question, they were just having a relaxed night at home and making dinner

"It happened a few weeks ago, earlier this month, here at our cottage; just a standard typical night for us," Harry explained during their joint engagement interview in November

Meghan added, "Just a cozy night, it was — what we were doing just roasting chicken and having …"  "Roasting a chicken, trying to roast a chicken," Harry chimed in

She added, "Trying to roast a chicken and it just – just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic

He got on one knee."

Every day, I felt love only in the movies

Or in books or dramas

Mmm, that's how I learned love

Ooh, some day

Will these things happen to me too?

When will that be? Who will it be?

they say it's sweet like candy

they say it feels like flying

What does love feel like?

they say you smile all day

they say the world becomes beautiful

Will this kind of love come to me too?

Just imagining this right now

Just thinking about it makes my heart explode

Mmm, I'm so curious, I'm going crazy

Ooh, some day

Will these things happen to me too?

When will that be? Who will it be?

GojiMan Vegan Low Carb Diet: What A Mistake! Reply - Duration: 18:19.

Are vegan low-carb diets healthy or unhealthy? Coming right up.

Hey I'm Dr. Sten Ekberg with Wellness For Life and if you'd like to truly master

health by understanding how the body really works make sure that you

subscribe and hit that notification bell so that you don't miss anything. So this

video was requested by one of my viewers called Little Voice and she saw a video

by ask GojiMan and she asked is there any truth to all these claims? So let's

take a look. Our vegan low carb diets healthy or not (by Gojiman). Well we're not going to

talk so much about vegan or not but I'm gonna address these claims because

there's a lot of incorrect statements here claim number one the body is

designed to run on carbohydrates that your brain heart and liver prefers

glucose while the brain runs primarily on glucose when glucose is plenty it can

run as much as 75% on a fat by-product called ketones so that is an incorrect

statement heart prefers fat. If you don't eat enough good quality fat especially

saturated fat from a natural source then the body is forced to convert

carbohydrates into fat so that the heart can have its preferred fuel and most of

your other organs run from a mix of carbohydrate and fat in a stressful

situation they up regulate their their sugar use and in normal circumstances

they run more on fat so that is incorrect.

Claim number two glucose is converted into ATP therefore the body literally

runs on carbohydrate that is pure nonsense because everything that you eat

gets turned into ATP if your body can convert it into

energy at all it is because it turned it into ATP so fat protein and

carbohydrates all turn into ATP. ATP is adenosine triphosphate it's your body's

energy currency and one molecule of glucose can be turned into up to 38

units of ATP and the same holds true for protein fat however can be turned into

as much as a hundred and forty-six to 163 units of ATP so it's a much denser

much more efficient storage form of energy we can get much more energy out

of the fat than the glucose but either way it's going to be turned into ATP

before we can use it for energy so that does not mean that the body literally

runs on carbs claim number three fat and protein can be turned into glucose

through a process called gluconeogenesis this is true but the video says this

only happens if there aren't carbs available and this is not true a lot of

things there's hundreds or thousands of processes in the body that always happen

to some degree but the body adapts so depending on circumstances we up

regulate or down regulate it happens more or less but it's not an on or off

switch so again glucoeogenesis happens under

all circumstances

it does happen more obviously when carbs are low but it still happens on a

regular basis. Claim number four the World Health Organization recommends

that 60 to 70% of your calories come from carbohydrates and 10 to 15% should

come from protein and 20 to 30% should come from fat and he says that every

Health Organization is pretty much on the same page on this and this is true

that is what they recommend it doesn't make it a good idea these people are not

health experts they're not doctors they're not clinicians they're academics

they're administrators and they're politicians that's why they put them

high in organizations that's what they're good at they're not good at

health so I for one I'm not going to take my health advice from

administrators so it's a correct statement just not a wise one in my

opinion claim number five carbohydrates are the preferred fuel for the body and

therefore the body will only use fat and protein for energy when it's forced to

do so and also through the process of ketosis when carbohydrates are really

low and it is true that carbohydrates will be used first but in no way does

that mean that it's a preferred fuel it's the most dangerous thing there in

the body so it has to be gotten rid of as soon as possible so think about it

this way a good blood sugar level is somewhere between 80 to a hundred or 80

to 90 ideally milligrams of glucose per deciliter that means at any given time

the average person has four to five grams of glucose in their bloodstream

if that increases even just a little bit up to six and a half grams that's toxic

that's the level of a diabetic when your blood sugar gets up to that level you're

classified as a diabetic and if it gets even higher then you can have what

diabetics experience as a diabetic coma so sugar is very very toxic to the brain

and that's why it is so closely monitored and that's why it's so quickly

disposed of the blood sugar is always kept at a certain level and if you eat

fat it's gonna stay at a steady level if you eat carbohydrate it's gonna go up

and down up and down up and down creating an unstable supply and constant

rollercoaster swings with the reactive hypoglycemia as a very common problem

claim number six the body stores carbohydrates

therefore they are essential the body stores a lot of things it stars stores

fat protein and carbohydrate it starts the least carbohydrate because it's very

difficult it can only be stored as glycogen and the body is very limited to

how much glycogen it can store it will store a maximum about 2,000 calories of

glycogen but it can store hundreds of thousands of calories of fat even a lean

person like myself can store about has on the body about a hundred thousand

calories of fat but I cannot store any more than two thousand calories of

carbohydrate so that in no way makes carbohydrates essential claim number

seven the brain and the red blood cells use glucose only so this is half true

the brain we talked about it can run as much as 75% on

fad through ketones so that is incorrect but here is a correct statement the red

blood cells do only use glucose but it's never a problem because there's always

some blood glucose available but they don't need a whole lot because the red

blood cells are interesting little things they're very specialized during

their development they eject their nucleus so they don't have a lot of

stuff in them that needs energy to manufacture things they're transport

vehicles and their job is to transport oxygen not to use it if you have to use

anything else than sugar you have to use oxygen so that's a specialization that

the red blood cells have gone through so that they can deliver oxygen without

using it however they can only get about two units of ATP from a glucose molecule

instead of 38 if we want to get more than two we have to use the oxygen and

again the red blood cells job is to deliver oxygen not to use it up that's

why they only use glucose and they're the only cells that do that as far as I

know claim number eight there are two molecules of water associated with every

molecule of glycogen and it is true that glycogen is what we call hydrophilic it

attracts water it holds water to it like a sponge but it's incorrect that it's

two molecules to one molecule because glycogen is an enormous molecule it

holds tens of thousands of units to it so there's tens of thousands of

molecules of water per like a molecule not two so the two comes from the fact

that it holds about two to three times its weight in water claim number nine on

a low-carb diet you can lose weight initially

and you will lose six to ten pounds very quickly but it's all water there's some

truth to this because most of the weight loss in the beginning is water but

that's true for no matter what diet you go on it is not true that six to ten

pounds are due to the water loss from glycogen that is limited about three to

four pounds because you can only store about one pound of glycogen which holds

about two to three times its weight in water claim number 10 ketosis is only

normal if you're sick or starving this is not true

again there's thousands of processes going on in the body all the time and

they don't go on or off they go up or down and every night you do a little bit

of up regulation for ketosis everyone makes more ketones during the night so

it's a normal phenomenon and it's true there is more when we are sick or

starving because the body is very adaptive claim number eleven you may

lose weight with the ketogenic diet but he says it's all water loss and also he

says the weight loss is not sustainable because if you keep eating like that

then you're gonna gain the weight back so again I'm sorry all you guys who have

consistently lost weight over years and years that didn't really happen and we

do know that carbohydrates is a food that triggers insulin and insulin is a

fat storage hormone so we do know and there is an abundance of meta analysis

meta studies on this and there's a lot of clinical research and results as well

that the carbohydrates trigger insulin causes fat storage

and insulin resistance if you want to get out of that you reduce the carbs and

you fix the problem claim number twelve fat in the blood slows the blood flow

and thereby creates insulin resistance high cholesterol and cardiovascular

disease and this is really interesting because it's the blood sugar that turns

into fat triglycerides high triglycerides which is fat in the blood

is almost invariably caused by high blood sugar because if your insulin

resistance the blood sugar can't get out into the cell so the body has no choice

but to convert it into fat and now you have some of this happening but the

insulin resistance is a result of the carbohydrates not the fat and the high

cholesterol and the cardiovascular disease comes from inflammation which is

a result of insulin due to carbohydrates so end an incorrect statement claim

number thirteen these are all the reasons that the World Health

Organization recommends a high carb diet the main reason that they do that is

that they're politicians and there is something called lobbying the biggest

industry in the world is processed foods and they need to pack a bunch of starch

and sugar into their food and they have lobbyists who influence all these

politicians in the World Health Organization and any other health

organization that's why the Captain Crunch and the marshmallow cereals have

a heart-healthy symbol on them because there is lobbying activity claim number

fourteen low-carb and keto is not good in the long run it's not a long term

diet so the only way the longest term that I

can think of would be as long as Homo sapiens has been around then that would

be about 250,000 years there is probably most likely due to all the available

evidence we have probably had a whole lot better access to fat and protein

through the months of the year then we have vegetables and fruit and grain

grain is a new addition in the last 10,000 years so low carb and ketosis is

what humans have done for most of their existence so long term study would be

the 250,000 years that we have been around so again that is not a correct

statement so one thing that he said was that that I completely agree with that a

lot of confusion comes about from eating processed foods it's not so much whether

we can eat a certain potato or we can eat a certain thing but it's when we

turn the potato into a potato chip it is when we we process the food we destroy

the nutrients we change it around we still need to eat low carb but if we

eat whole food it's gonna be pretty much low carb and grains have not been part

of human diet for all of these years as far as the vegan aspect I don't want to

get into a whole lot of detail so this is not about vegan versus not but we

need to understand that some of the things that we do can be good short-term

and some can be good long-term so vegetables are cleansing they're

wonderful for a short period of time to clean out the body to cleanse the liver

to assist the body and getting rid of accumulated junk but it's not a

long-term plan it's not good for the long term because it doesn't have the

building blocks animal products have better quality building block

and they're more bioavailable they go more directly in in their natural form

in the body so we need both we need vegetables and we need animal

foods animal foods and vegetables in the long run for balance and lots and lots

of vegetables for periods of time as a cleanse so I hope that helps answer some

of these questions and these are important questions these are very very

common misunderstandings there's a lot of myths there's a lot of outright

misinformation so if you'd like me to do individual videos on some of these then

please let me know I'll probably do some anyway but if there's specific ones that

you'd like to know more about let me know and I'll do a short video on that

and expand on it if you're new to this channel and you enjoy this kind of
