I work with and volunteer with Ashburton Community Care.

Always, there are people who are on the periphery of the community who don't see people very often.

I'm helping to connect with people.

People are at home a long time and they don't always have family

...and if they do have family they don't always go and see them.

I find that people enjoy having somebody to talk to.

It is a lovely feeling because we're all human beings.

We all need the people

to live with... to be near...

to be in contact with...

Volunteering from my community is my way of showing I care.

What is the difference between SCADA and HMI? - Duration: 6:02.

Today, you will learn the difference between a SCADA system and an HMI.

We will talk about the differences as well as the similarities,

and also when each is used.

There is usually some confusion because of the similarities.

Before we get into today's video, if you love our videos,

be sure to click the like button below,

and make sure to click subscribe and the bell to receive notifications of new RealPars videos.

This way you never miss another one!

So let's dive in to SCADA for now.

SCADA stands for "Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition."

These are used for monitoring and controlling large areas, typically a full site or plant.

SCADA systems are a combination of many systems including sensors,

RTUs or Remote Terminal Units, and PLCs.

Data from all of these systems is then sent to the central SCADA unit.

That SCADA unit has its own HMI.

This is why a lot of people get confused

and think SCADA and HMI are one and the same.

That HMI or "Human Machine Interface" unit on the SCADA

can monitor and control anything that is connected to it.

In conclusion, HMI can be part of SCADA but SCADA cannot be part of a HMI.

It's that simple.

So let's talk about a common use for SCADA

that I have personally encountered.

While working for a water and wastewater treatment facility

I encountered a SCADA system.

The HMI was located at the main water plant building.

This HMI was connected to the main SCADA unit at the water plant.

Each booster pump station within the water district

was represented on the screen.

At each location there was a PLC

that was connected to some sensors to monitor water flow,

pressure, and other things, and it was able to run

and control the pump itself.

The remote SCADA unit was connected to the PLC system

and allowed operators to control and monitor each pump station from the main plant.

I'm sure you can imagine how much time and labor

a good SCADA system can save a company.

I like to think of a SCADA system kind of like a modern vehicle.

You have several different sensors connected to different computers on board.

Most of your interior features like motorized seats,

climate control and other things are controlled by a BCM or body control module.

Most of your engine functions and sensors are monitored and controlled

by your ECM or engine control module.

These modules all send information to a main screen

in your dash for you to see and control through driver controls

which is essentially your HMI.

An HMI is essentially a user control station,

usually in the form of a touchscreen or a screen with some buttons attached.

They are typically tied to a machine or process.

Most HMI applications have the screen tied to a PLC that it is compatible with.

Certain functions and sensors can be programmed to monitor and control on the screen itself.

Be sure to check out our RealPars video on HMIs.

So what did we learn today?

Hopefully you now know the difference between a SCADA and HMI.

They are different but can be used together to create a very functional

and useful industrial tool.

A SCADA system is comprised of remote systems

all tied together at one central hub.

Our example was the water treatment pumps

that were located all over a water district.

They were able to be controlled and monitored from a central location at the water plant.

An HMI is an interface for humans to monitor and control a machine.

Even our SCADA systems will typically involve an HMI.

HMIs are usually connected to one machine or process

and is able to monitor and control certain functions of that machine or process.

Mcgaughys Adjustable Lift Kit - What's the Difference?! - Duration: 8:52.

(techno music)

(impact wrench)

(bang) (electricity crackle)

- Hello everyone Brad, here with Custom Offsets.

Got us some lifts and levels.

This is the one that everyone asks about,

and we never do.

And that's simply because we just don't see many.

But this is gonna be a McGaughy's Kit.

This is for a Silverado, for a 2014 and up Silverado.

This ones gonna be going on the 17, Silverado 1500, Z71.

This is gonna be their seven to nine inch kit.

A lot of people are unfamiliar with how that works exactly,

and I'll just jump right into that right away.

So pretty much how is this the seven to nine kit?

The kit's designed for a seven inch kit,

but what McGaughy's does

is they actually have their struts here,

which are height adjustable so basically

you can see these notches here

and where you set the clip here

(clicks)

is where it's gonna dictate where your,

(clicks)

the lower spring pocket sits.

And all the way down will be seven inch,

the next slot up is eight inch

and all the way up is nine inch.

And what that does is it really that just changes

the preload on the spring.

So, if you preload on the spring

a little more it'll actually lift the truck up,

'cause it's stiffening the spring up front.

So that's how that works.

Seven and nine most people just set her all the way up

to nine and go like that.

So, we got the front struts there obviously,

and then this one, once again,

it's kind of a little confusing how McGaughy's does it.

This is gonna be called their Stainless Steel

or SS Series Kit.

As you can see you get the high-gloss black finish.

And then also what they do is, you have these little

stainless inserts in here which look very pretty.

People like that.

And then stainless the allen head cap screws,

there as well, just little accent pieces.

I believe the standard McGaughy's kit is just like

a flat black powder coat finish where that stainless steel

or SS Series is the high gloss black

with the shiny inserts.

So you got your front and rear

lower control arm drop cross members,

just like anything else here.

You got your differential skid plate

for when the diff kit's lowered down.

You got your front diff drops here,

which you can see are pretty big diff drops.

But you gotta be when you're going,

you know, up to nine inch lift here.

So you've got your diff drop.

And then as well as sway bar drops here.

This is gonna be a cross member brace.

I believe this ties in between the lower control arm

cross members to brace them up,

to stiffen things up a little bit.

And then McGaughy's gives you welding plates as well

for when you cut the, basically,

cross-member pockets on the frame.

They give you a plate to weld back in place

just to brace everything back up.

And then another thing that McGaughy's does

that everyone always likes is these here which

are either called compression struts or kicker braces,

whatever you wanna call 'em.

Basically these are a brace that go

from the rear lower control arm cross-member

and ties them into the frame to keep everything from moving.

Realistically if the kit's designed

right you don't actually need 'em,

but a lot of people like 'em

and really more so for looks.

And then obviously we got our new knuckles

here as you can see, front track width is increased

on these kits.

You can always tell when a kit comes with CV spacers.

That track width is gonna be increased

probably by an inch and a half per side.

And then you know, that really kinda

is everything for the front.

In the rear how they do it,

is you got a six inch block here so they have their

fabricated six inch block and then you do the

add-a-leafs, two add-a-leafs gives you

about an inch to two inches of lift.

So, at nine inches it should sit pretty level.

The truck, if you sit it at seven, the rear will be higher.

And then, just the standard twin tube

McGaughy shocks to the rear.

New U bolts, I don't really like,

they don't give you coated U-bolts

so these are just raw steel,

so those are gonna rust up instantly

which isn't the greatest.

But obviously you could paint 'em up,

but usually paint doesn't hold up on U-bolts.

And then another nice thing is they give you

new tie rod ends here, nice new short ones

so you don't actually have to cut the factory tie rods

like you have to do on some other kits.

You know, BDS and I believe Fab Tech

do that as well, they give you the new tie rods.

But that's pretty much it for this kit.

That's gonna be McGaughy's seven and nine,

and we're gonna go get installed.

(rock music)

(drilling)

Alright guys we've got the McGaughy's kit installed,

on the truck here.

And now remember this is the seven and nine.

We have it set up at nine right now

because we want to avoid trimming issues

with the wheel and tire setup he's gonna go with.

And as you can see obviously,

we've got the new lift and knuckles here,

we've got the new shorter tie-rod ends,

which is a nice little feature

so you don't have to cut the factory tie rods

and then all the other standard components

that you'd always see on any other kits.

One thing that stands out to me right away

is this is a really large diff drop.

I'd say that's probably, that's roughly

a seven inch diff drop,

which is a lot.

You know usually you only see about four inch

but that's usually on a six inch kit.

This is a seven and nine.

So, let's see, the diff drop is about seven inches.

You can see even with the truck up in the air

the CV axle angles are not even maxed out,

and the trucks at full droop so that's really nice.

So when it's on the ground I'm assuming the CV axle angles

will be pretty much near flat.

And then aside from that obviously they have

the big lower control arm drops.

You can see the braces here

that tie the cross members together,

the new skid plate under there, sway bar drops.

And then they do these weird sway bar extensions

thingies here on the end which I'm not crazy about.

Looks a little sketchy.

But I guess someone really much smarter than me

designed that so I guess it's fine.

And then on the back here we have

these bars here that everyone goes crazy about

and loves because they look cool.

And those are gonna be the compression struts

or kicker braces and all that's doing is

basically tying in the lower control arm drops

to the frame and bracing it up,

because these are quite large, the drop.

I think that's pretty much about it in the front.

And then as you can see it has these really pretty inlays.

It's really cute.

A lot of people like those as well.

And then obviously the CV axle spacers here

because track width up front will be increased.

Usually it's about an inch and a half,

so you have to space the CV axles out,

and that's pretty much it up the front.

Let's go to the back.

Yeah, in the back here this kit comes with

the fabricated block here and then as well

and there's an add-a-leaf in here.

And the block on here they used is a six inch block,

and then they achieved the rest

of the lift with the add-a-leaf.

The add-a-leaf will add about an inch and a half

to two inches, give or take, of lift.

The new U-bolts which I mentioned earlier are uncoated

so those are gonna rust right away.

Bump stop drops and then the new shocks in the back as well,

and I believe they just have

some brake line relocation brackets.

It looks like they literally

just have you use the old bracket.

Some of the other kits like BBS and stuff

will actually give you new bracket here and blah blah blah,

but McGaughys doesn't do that.

And then another thing that I don't really care for

with McGaughys is they don't

really offer any shock upgrades.

So you can't like Fox or Bilstein's

with any of their kits, so it is what it is.

But yeah, that's gonna be the seven and nine McGaughy's

for 2014 and up 1500 GM trucks.

Princess Charlotte and Mia Tindall: The one huge fashion difference between the young royal cousins - Duration: 3:09.

Princess Charlotte, three, and Mia Tindall, four, have vastly different lives, despite both being grandchildren to Her Majesty the Queen

The two youngsters are second cousins, as Princess Charlotte's father Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, is the cousin of Mia's mum Zara Tindall – who has just welcomed her second baby with her rugby player husband Mike Tindall

Although all of the royal youngsters share a close bond – Prince George and cousin Savannah Phillips stole the limelight with their cheeky antics at Trooping the Colour this year, there are some vast differences between the children's lives

While Princess Charlotte and Mia, who doesn't have a royal title, are both important members of the young royal family, there is one big difference between the two tots – the way their mothers dress them

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, only dresses her daughter in floral dresses and Zara chooses to dress her little girl in more comfortable outfits such as leggings

Mia is frequently spotted wearing leggings and jeans when she is spotted out with her mother and father, usually at horse events

Although this could be because she likes to run around playing on the lawn, it may also be due to the fact Mia isn't an attendee of important royal engagements like her cousin Charlotte

Meanwhile, childrenswear designer Rachel Riley, who has dressed Prince George, has a theory Catherine puts Charlotte in traditional dresses so the look stays classic

Speaking to The Telegraph she said the choice of wardrobe is aimed at looking 'timeless' in official photographs

Rachel said: "The reason why I design clothes that way is because if they wear very simple things, it's about the child, and it's timeless in that you can't really date a specific photo or put them in something that seems out of date

"  Mia doesn't have to appear in as many royal photographs as her cousin Charlotte, as the four year old doesn't have a royal ranking

Princess Charlotte is more frequently in the spotlight, due to the fact her father is second in line to the throne

When the Cambridges attended the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy, Kate knew all eyes would be on her family so decided to dress her brood in very smart ensembles, despite the fact they were running around the grass playing all day

While George was dressed in a dapper navy polo shirt and beige chino shorts, Charlotte wore a beautiful pink floral dress

The Biggest Difference Between The Wolf Among Us and Fables Comic - Duration: 9:05.

The Wolf Among Us is a prequel videogame to the long running Fables comic series.

The premise of both is simple: all of the fables of brother's Grimm fame are refugees

in our world after having to flee their own, and now live in hiding in an enclave in New

York called Fabletown.

The main character of both comic and game is Bigby Wolf, the big bad wolf of legend

now reformed as the sheriff of Fabletown.

BIGBY: Submit a damage report with my office.

Fabletown will pay for this.

The Wolf Among Us has a dynamic storyline that shifts and reacts to the dialog choices

you make for Bigby, and the game is easily one of the smartest takes on fairy tales you'll

find in any medium.

One of the themes inherent in any modern day take on fairy tales is postmodernism, the

fun in the premise seeing how fairytale characters slot into a modern world, of juxtaposing the

mythos of the original stories with the mundane of everyday life.

The Fables aren't mythical characters anymore, no longer princes and damsels and monsters,

they're all just people now trying to get by.

BIGBY: What are you doing here?

NERISSA: Same as anyone.

It's a place where I am.

Where else am I supposed to be?

But more than just seeing how clever the writer can be in fitting the jigsaw pieces of fairy

tale modern day together, The Wolf Among Us is interested in the deeper thematic resonance

to be mined in looking at the consequences of the original fairy tales: in what happens

when you strip fairytales of their gravitas, in the complexities and nuances of how the

Big Bad Wolf would deal with his past in the modern day.

Though the comic series was started back in 2002, twelve years before The Wolf Among Us

was released, my introduction to the Fables universe came first through the game, and

after finishing it I went on to read the comics… and was almost immediately disappointed.

The thing is, while The Wolf Among Us is a nuanced and complicated take on fairy tales,

the Fables comics... aren't.

They're not badly written, but they're only interested in that fun surface level

of draping fairy tales over the modern day without any real engagement with how that

changes or complicates them.

Every way The Wolf Among Us engages with the specifics of the original fairy tales, the

comics don't.

Now, the comic series does actually at first do some smart things: so Fabletown isn't

ripped apart from internal conflict all inhabitants are granted blanket immunity for past crimes

in their old world.

To protect from the outside mundane world they're also forbidden from revealing their

magical identities.

While for the human fables this is easy enough, for inhuman fables like trolls or talking

frogs it requires purchasing expensive spells, called glamours, to disguise themselves, or

risk being shipped off to a farm outside the city.

BIGBY: If you can't afford to look human, you're going to the farm.

It's as simple as that.

MR.

TOAD: Bigby, they're bleeding me dry, mate.

The quality of the spell goes down, but the rates keep climbing up.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to have an entire family in glamour?

These are a great example of taking advantage of the Fabletown premise: they're logical

extrapolations, and they set the stage for interesting conflicts.

Both comic and game explore those conflicts, but do so in fundamentally different ways.

A few issues into the comics those inhuman fables on the farm rebel and try to take the

reins of power for themselves.

This is actually one of the few places the comics really engage with the original fairy

tales and make full creative use of them: there's an especially funny reference to

Goldilocks having gone native with the three bears from her story and now works as a terrorist

and freedom fighter for inhuman fables, but there's very little long term value to the

storyline.

The rebellion is put down after a few chapters, but there's no change to the Fabletown status

quo, no growth for any of the characters involved, no examination or deconstruction of the themes

of the story or original fairy tales.

Instead of being a fun little side story, the tension between human and non-human fables

makes up the core of The Wolf Among Us.

A deep trench of bitterness separates the have's from the have-nots, with inhuman

fables ignored by the Fabletown government and treated like second class citizens.

GRENDEL: Where were you when we reported this weeks ago, huh?

Where are you when we ever need you?

If you'd given one ounce about her, about any of us, she might have been saved!

She might have been cared for!

It's actually remarkably similar to real life ethnic enclaves at the turn of the century.

In trying to solve the first murder of a fable in years, Bigby has to navigate a Fabletown

where Beauty and Beast, like a lot of refugees, were wealthy in their home country but now

find themselves resorting to less than savory ways to pay for a lifestyle they can no longer

afford; where racial resentment between those who can pass as the native population and

those who can't is high; where the weak institutions of the fabletown government have

allowed an organized crime element to rise to power and take advantage of the vacuum

in fabletown just as the mafia did in Italian ethnic enclaves in New York.

Bigby himself operates in a really interesting liminal space between the two classes of fables:

viewed as a traitor and Uncle Tom by one side while also never fully accepted by the other.

Despite the clemency granted to all fables for their crimes in the old world, no one's

forgotten just how many people Bigby ate in the homelands.

COLIN: I'm not saying it's fair, but it's real.

People are scared of you.

I mean, look at your hands.

This is an aspect of Bigby that isn't explored in the comics, and his reasons for taking

on the office of sheriff aren't either.

It's suggested at one point that he came to Fabletown and reformed from his old ways

because of his interest in Snow White.

And it's not a bad motivation per se, it's just that it isn't explored more than that.

There's no character growth, no struggle in trying to refrain from violence despite

his enjoyment and affinity for it, no conflict between his old ways and the new person he's

trying to be, no emotional toll in the suspicion the other fables view him with, no personal

cost in what he's doing.

The best example of this is the introduction of Red Riding Hood a dozen issues or so into

the comics.

With the Big Bad Wolf as a main character you might think one of his former victims

showing up to be a complicated and thorny issue… but you'd be wrong.

There's a single page where Red Riding Hood is upset by Bigby being the sheriff and forgiven

for his crimes in the old world, but it's quickly discovered that she's not actually

Red Riding Hood, and instead an evil witch in disguise.

Narratively, her appearance is simply a ploy by the villains that once discovered isn't

commented on again.

There's no emotional or thematic conflict in it, no examination of the complicated relationship

between former abuser and victim, of how to reconcile past wrongs, of the bitterness Red

Riding Hood should feel over how the other fables have accepted the monster that once

terrorized them all.

The real Red Riding Hood does eventually show up later, but she has even less to do with

Bigby than the fake one.

While Red Riding Hood doesn't appear in The Wolf Among Us, the game does confront

Bigby with an element from his original fairytale: the Woodsman.

BIGBY: If you keep on like this I won't have any choice but to put you down.

WOODSMAN: Put me down?

You gotta a bad memory, wolf.

That's not how it went last time.

And his relationship with Bigby is nuanced.

Instead of the hero of the story as he was in the Homelands, in Fabletown he's a drunk

and abuser of women, and resents Bigby: he's the hero of the story, not Bigby, so why is

he a suspect in a murder case?

Doesn't anyone remember what Bigby is?

What he's done?

These are interesting questions that spring from the original fairytale, and ones that

go unasked in the comics.

They're also used for character growth: depending on your choices in the game there

can be a distinct arc with Bigby and the Woodsman finally burying the hatchet and reaching an

understanding with each other.

Bigby's motivation in becoming sheriff in The Wolf Among Us is positioned as less about

Snow, and more about reforming his image and identity as a whole.

This motivation informs all his actions in the game: the constant friction between lapsing

back into his old Big Bad Wolf persona to speed the investigation along, and the new

order abiding and non-violent one he's trying to forge.

And despite his best efforts there's a real undertone throughout the game that he may

be needed because of his ability to inflict violence, but because of exactly that he'll

never be trusted.

SNOW: I've heard it said that maybe, in some tiny little bottled up way deep inside,

you kind of enjoy it when things go wrong.

Because it gives you an excuse to just, you know, stop pretending.

It's a really nuanced way of engaging with the consequences of the original fairytale

and using it to inform character growth and theme.

Part of the reason the game is so much better at exploring these themes is down to both

a difference in the medium and genre.

The main game mechanic of The Wolf Among Us is decision making and dialog choices, and

the more complex and multifaceted the characters and conflicts, the more interesting it is

to play.

And the noir detective genre is simply a better vehicle for exploring those small, personal

tensions and conflicts than the superhero war story of the comics.

LILY: I think she was off the mundy drugs, but… she was hooking to pay down debt.

It ate me up to see her that way.

Moral relativism is a hallmark of noir which makes creating nuanced characters easier,

and a murder mystery by its nature requires the detective to move through the different

stratas of society and puzzle out the motivations and nuances of suspects and witnesses.

There's also just a hundred small ways the presentation of The Wolf Among Us reinforces

the unglamorous nature of Fabletown: the neon lights that drench the world, the constant

graffiti in the background, the thick atmosphere of the music, Bigby's weariness in quiet

moments, the way his fridge is empty.

Even the titles of the comics and game set them apart: Fables is a generic and vague

title, The Wolf Among Us specific, intriguing, and hints at the liminal space Bigby occupies,

the themes of fear and belonging.

None of this is to say that the original Fable comics are bad.

They're not: they're well written and well drawn.

But they're not everything they could be, not as brilliant as their premise promises.

The fairytale elements in them are just draped over a conventional plot, the connections

only skin deep.

A Difference Maker, Fr. Marty Solma - Duration: 5:55.

I think the things that drive Father Marty are his care for people,

his belief in what he's doing.

Clearly this is faith-filled man with incredible values who lives the Marianist Charism.

Interested in people, what you're doing, where you're going and to generate some energy around

your development and development of institutions and the development of our world.

Father Marty is warm, caring, generous, has a wonderful smile and very contagious and joyful laugh.

In 1967, Father Marty Solma professed vows as a Marianist.

After graduating from the University of Dayton, he became a teacher.

Brother Tom Pieper worked with Fr. Marty at Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati.

Whenever he would walk into a room it was just his presence, because you knew

he was there for everybody else. And he was there for you.

Yeah, people just loved him.

In 1982, Fr. Marty was asked to go to Africa to work with novices -- African men who wanted

to join the Society of Mary.

And he goes, "Tom, I gotta tell you something.

They asked me to go to Africa." And it was like, "Marty, we just got started here!"

So he said, "The Province needs me to go, and I'm going to be saying yes."

And he would say, "It's just for three years, I'll be back after three years," well 26 years later...

He was asked to go to Africa for three years and spent over 20 years there.

He just kept responding to needs that they had there.

And so he worked with formation, he worked developing people,

he worked developing systems and institutions.

Eastern Africa now is an independent region of the Society of Mary and many of the leaders

there were mentored by Father Marty.

Ministering in the slums of Eastern Africa, the Marianists looked for ways

to partner with the poor and give them a path to hope. They started skills training programs for adults

and schools for children, including Our Lady of Nazareth in Nairobi, Kenya.

We're helping these kids physically, we're helping them educationally, we're helping

them socially. And you can see the difference.

It's tangible.

I think it's making a huge difference. And they're just giving people hope, and then

they can see there are possibilities to move on.

For me it's a real charge to see kids take their God-given talents, to see those develop,

and to see them able to live a dream.

Karen Spina travelled with Fr. Marty on a recent trip to Africa.

It was incredible to see these schools that the Marianists support.

Seeing where these children come from and seeing that their homes have no electricity,

no plumbing, and to come to a school where now they have opportunities for computer training, and art, music.

Without a doubt, this school is making a difference.

And the way these students greeted Father Marty was just wonderful to see.

They love him, he's like a celebrity there.

Fr. Marty was appointed Provincial of the Marianist Province of the United States in 2010.

He approached this new role with the same passion and vigor he displayed

for so many years in Africa.

He keeps up a pace that is incredible.

If there is any person that somebody could say, "Are there two of you? Because you

were just in Mexico, and here it is Dayton, Ohio and you're back the next day."

When he's committed to something, he gives all to it. He gave a lot of time to visiting

institutions, and reminding people about the vision for Marianist Catholic education

to empower students, to create community, to transform the world.

Throughout his time as Provincial, Fr. Marty has been a valued member of

the University of Dayton Board of Trustees.

Very thoughtful, very insightful, people listen when Father Marty has something to say because

you know it's not only coming from the right place,

but it also really carries an important kernel of wisdom.

Father Marty is a leader. And he's such a strong thinker, with such a caring heart.

He's a servant leader who welcomes the rest of us to join him as servant leaders.

And to me that is powerful.

Some people want to make you be better. Father Marty makes you want to do better.

Do better.

Make a difference. So anyway, he's a... he's an amazing man.

He's an amazing man, and he really touches your heart.

Difference Between ADHD and ADD - Duration: 1:17.

Martin, can you also help us understand the difference between ADHD

and what we hear a lot which is ADD, oftentimes a lot of people get confused

with both. Yeah, so in the past they used to differentiate between ADD and ADHD

now according to the latest research and the DSM-5, the diagnostic manual

statistics, states that it's all ADHD so you have ADHD some individuals have it

within attentiveness some individuals have it with hyperactivity and some

individuals have it with both the reason though that we call it ADHD is even if

you have ADHD with a specific in an attentiveness you still have some of the

hyperactivity it's just not as prevalent as the inattentiveness

the same way with the individual that has hyperactivity so if you have ADHD

predominantly hyperactive you still have some of the inattentiveness just not as

Amazon FBA - BSR vs Keyword Ranking - You Should Know The Difference - Duration: 9:54.

One of the topics that comes up all the time in forums that people seem to misunderstand,

especially as new sellers, is the difference between your BSR rank, which is your best sellers rank,

and your search term ranking.

Stay tuned and I'll tell you the difference between the two.

What's up fellow drivers? This is your boy David Liggins

with No Rev Limits, and I'm excited to bring you some more valuable information today.

And, if you're a new subscriber, or you just found this video somehow - basically,

I sell physical products online, through Amazon as a launch platform, through Amazon FBA.

Today we're going to be talking about one of the big misconceptions - especially for new sellers -

between your search term ranking and your BSR, which is your best sellers rank. Okay?

This is very important to understand the difference between the two, because it will help you understand your data a bit better.

And when you're going through product research, especially, this is really critical and important for you to understand.

So, you'll know what type of products - and how they're doing.

So, I actually better state it - how products are doing and what the velocity of those products are doing.

Alright, with that being said, let's start off with your best sellers rank.

Best sellers rank, or BSR, is what Amazon uses to rank

your sales against your competitors in that same category. Okay?

So, for example, if you're selling in "baby" you're going to see "baby" as your top category.

You're also gonna have a subcategory. I mean, you might have something that's a little bit deeper than that,

but in these particular niches and those categories, you're gonna have a number associated with that. Okay?

In most cases, what we're going to be focusing on as a subcategory ranking, right?

Because this really identifies what niche you're in. Okay?

So, if you're in "baby" and your selling baby blankets or baby towels,

that could be a subcategory versus "baby bedding" - for example. And, if you're looking at best sellers rank,

we don't really want to compare ourselves with the top category just "baby" in general.

Although, you can because if you're at the top 10 or top 100 for the category in general, you're killing it.

Okay so, quickly, that's just how to understand what the best sellers rank means and this is very important, guys.

This is very important when you're doing product research, when you're looking at different tools and getting your bestsellers rank, because a lot of

these tools use the best sellers rank to estimate the numbers and the velocity of sales.

Okay? And that's key here. It's the velocity of sales.

So, for example, in my subcategory if I'm in the top 100, or even the top 20,

that means my product is selling - let's say. Let's go with position 20.

Okay? So, in my subcategory, I am rank 20 for my BSR. The BSR, maybe, I don't know. Let's say 3,000. Okay?

Which can fluctuate hourly.

So, if I stayed at roughly 3,000 for a whole week, that means that I've sold at the same velocity,

roughly in that category, as everything in that subcategory. Okay? I know that can be kind of confusing.

So, let me kind of rephrase that.

So, your BSR will shift every hour, okay?

This doesn't mean you're doing good or bad, it's just - it's how it goes. Some products sell better at day.

Some products sell better at night. Some products sell better on the weekend.

Let's say, for example, that if you're cooking breakfast in the morning, you may use a skillet. Boom.

Guess when you're going to think about buying a skillet? When you're using it.

You don't think about buying a skillet when you're at the gym, for example, right?

So, this is when customers are like, "Man, I need a new skillet. Let me go ahead and make that purchase."

So, your BSR can fluctuate all throughout the day, but don't fret, guys, because this is normal. Okay?

What you want to do, and how you really evaluate how important your BSR is - or how you're selling -

is to compare your positioning with your competitors. Okay?

So, let's say that on Monday afternoon I'm ranked 20. My BSR is around 3,000.

Okay? You can be ranked 20 all week,

and your BSR could be 2,500 or it can be 3,500 or anywhere in between, right?

What that means is that from your competitors who are around you - who are in position 1 through 19 or 21 through 50, for example -

are selling, you know, you're selling at roughly the same velocity as them to maintain your 20th position.

Okay, do you understand? So, this is really important, right? Because your BSR can move.

Your BSR could be 3,000 today, and then this evening it could be, you know, 5,000

but you can still be positioned 20.

Okay? That's what really matters - that you maintain your position relative to your competitor.

Okay?

Now, what this would do is, when you start looking at some of these tools like Jungle Scout -

who estimates the velocity of sales based on the BSR - if I have a product that sells really fast in the morning,

my BSR is going to be lower. It may drop to like 1,800.

Okay?

So, if you're looking at the data, and Jungle Scout has scraped this data and scraped it where my BSR is at

1,800 - you're going to get a higher estimated monthly volume of sales.

Alright? Now, let's say that you go back and check a few days later,

and the BSR for that same product is at 3,200.

Now Jungle Scout, or whatever tool that you're going to use is going to give you a different

velocity of sales - velocity for that particular month.

Okay? So, it's really important for you to keep an eye on where that product lands relative to competitors.

You can't just go based off the BSR in those estimations because they fluctuate hourly,

and this is one of the big mistakes people do when they're looking at -

well, when they're doing product research and looking at the data.

Alright?

Alright, now let's take a little bit of time to understand your search term ranking.

Okay? So, this is the ranking that most people are worried about,

and it's very important because this will determine how many eyeballs are going to be going in your product.

Now, just a step back. Take one step back.

Let's say I was doing a giveaway, because that's been popular nowadays.

I don't recommend the giveaways right now. There's a lot of thing that's changing, but we can talk about them another video.

But, let's say that you were doing a giveaway and you just spiked your sales.

Guess what? Your BSR is going to be extremely low, which is good.

It decreases, which means your product is selling at a fast velocity.

So, when you start to evaluate these products, you can get messed up,

because it's gonna look like this products doing really good if you catch it at a time when they're doing a giveaway

or something where they're pushing a lot of units. Okay?

Now, let's fast forward a little bit, and we're going to talk about your search term ranking.

So, your search term ranking was really important, because this is going to help you get your product in front of people's eyes.

Okay? So, if I go in and search

"baby towels"

they're going to have a list of products that are on that first page, second page, third page, etc. Okay?

Most of us are trying to get to that first page, and in most cases, trying to get those top 5 spots.

Alright?

One of the top sellers for that keyword - or that search term, I should say. So, "baby towels" - for example - is a search term.

It's the search term that I, as a customer, may type into Amazon in the little search bar,

and I'm going to find a list of products.

Which, if that's one of your main search terms, you want to rank for that search term

so you show up on the first page or top 5. Okay?

This is also called ranking, and your relevancy for that particular keyword is really important.

So, if you're selling baby towels, you can have "baby blanket, baby towel baby cotton, towel baby muslin towel,

antimicrobial towel" for babies, right?

These are all different search terms that can be used to find a particular product,

and you want to rank for as many relevant search terms - or keywords -

that helps identify your products. And ranking for those means that you want to go to page 1

position, you know, 1 through 16 for example, and it could differ depending on grid format and etc.

But, that's the real big difference when we're talking about BSR and search term ranking.

Okay, guys?

So, just because your BSR may be good for a couple days

does not mean that you're going to be ranking on the first page for your main keywords. Okay?

That means you've just got a lot of sales relative to competitors,

but it could have been from all the other keywords that you maybe targeted, for example.

Okay? So, every sale contributes to a lower BSR, and improves your BSR,

but not every sale contributes to all of your keywords. And going back to listing optimization -

which I said in my last video - if you have your listing optimized for these very important keywords, every sale

helps build authority and ranking for those search terms that makes sense.

So, "baby towel" may be one of your main keywords, or "baby muslin towel"

etc. "Antimicrobial towel" may be your search time that you want to use and rank for. Right?

So, if you're bidding on Amazon sponsored ads, or PPC, for "baby muslin towels" - for example -

you're going to build a little bit more ranking and authority for every sale you get with that particular search term.

But, not only that, it's for every other sale that you get the keywords

once you have your listing optimized it's going to have residual effect

and build authority for all the search terms that you have your back end.

You also have your title and your bullet points. Okay?

So, this is just a quick tip - a quick guide.

I wanted to, kind of, clarify the difference between your search term ranking and your BSR ranking.

Anyways guys, I hope that helps, and if you like the information I'm giving -
