The National Science Agenda is a source of inspiration for everyone interested in science.
We have received almost 12,000 questions from the public, aimed at science.
We have bundled these questions in 25 themes.
We call them the routes.
Today, two of these routes are starting with research on the position of young people in our society.
The Youth route is one of the routes of the National Science Agenda.
We have developed a research programme for the Youth route:
"Equal opportunities for a diverse youth",
in which we focus specifically on unequal opportunities.
Completely in the spirit of the National Science Agenda,
in this programme, we work together with all kinds of social organisations and professionals.
People from the municipality, from schools, from youth support, youth healthcare.
And what we want, and will do, is to get quick results ...
that people in the field can actually use.
We, as a school in The Hague, in the Transvaal district,
have been involved from start in the "Social cohesion in the classroom" research project.
We can provide input from our own experience.
And of course we also hope to benefit from that input.
To be able to use the outcome straight away in schools.
Today we were allowed to share our opiniona about different plans and research projects.
It was very cool to be involved us this way.
Today we felt we also have a voice in this project.
The Neurolab NL route is one of the routes of the NWA.
It studies issues relating to the brain, cognition and behaviour.
We call ourselves the workshop because ...
we bring together different parties like social partners,
people who are doing research on the brain and cognition ...
and scientists.
What makes this day extra special is that today we are starting two NWA routes at the same time.
We try to inspire one another ...
so that we can figure out how best to organise our society ...
in a way that allows young people to flourish.
What I find so fantastic about the Start Impulse Programme ...
is that it combines two special knowledge areas.
This really will give us some new insights.
Yes, I thought it was very inspiring to see all those projects in the making.
How they do their research. The paths they choose for their studies.
Science and social partners, and the young people themselves.
A kind of synergy or cooperation. It was really special to experience that today.
We both study the subject of learning outside schools.
It's the topic of our PhD research.
I think it's nice to see that this theme is being looked at
from so many different perspectives.
And also useful to see where the connections are.
What we can learn from each other. What we can do together.
We are excited! Yes!
