Chapter 2 Restaurant | kolkata Restaurant Review - Duration: 6:50.

We were very fond of food.

So we always used to think what kind of business we could do.

We were into various businesses.

Suddenly we started a small restaurant.

Chowman in Golf Green.

People just loved our way of serving delicious food.

So we started opening chains of restaurants.

Then we thought that our Chinese restaurant has already gained a place in Kolkata.

So why don't we start a new brand?

So we started Oudh 1590.

We introduced Galauti Kebab there.

We visited Lucknow several times at that period to research.

Thankfully, that project became very successful.

Our third endeavour is this Chapter 2.

This is entirely a continental restaurant.

It relives the charm of 60's or 70's Park Street.

With live music, gorgeous ambiance, serious continental food.

Park Street was Chapter 1, this is Chapter 2.

We have a deep passion for music.

So this restaurant also is our tribute to our love for music.

Every evening there is a live band performance.

We decided it earlier that even if the restaurant doesn't run well, the live performance would be there.

Proper live band performance with jazz, blues, pop music would be there.

So that the live music culture revives.

Oudh is not only about Biryani and Chnap.

There is so much more.

Galauti Kebab, Kakori Kebab and different types of preparations of fish.

Fish plays a very important role in Lucknowi food.

As the Gomti river flows across Lucknow.

We introduced Mahi Chnap and various fishes here.

When we started Oudh, we can still remember that the first day didn't go well.

Only three customers were there.

We were very nervous.

From the second evening 7 pm, there was a heavy rush, don't know why.

People come to our restaurant not only for food but for a wholesome experience.

From our first small 20-seater Chowman to today's 150-seater restaurants, we always go for something different.

Chair, table, ambience, the way the people talk, menu card... everything was different.

The first person we thought about was Nitish Roy.

He was the only person in India who could do this decor.

He designed Ramoji Film City.

We contacted him and went to him.

The first day we briefed him that we had a dream but no budget.

We can't afford Nitishda, we can't make a Ramoji film city.

But we wanted him only.

Nitishda was convinced by our words.

He said that he was with us.

Chapter 2 was relived in that way.

And another friend of us, the famous fashion designer Agnimitra Paul.

She designed the costume for Chapter 2 on our request.

So the costumes of our waiters have those polka dots from that 40's-50's era.

We can vividly remember, one day our very own Usha Uthup didi was invited here.

Didi came here just to have food, but she became so nostalgic that she was almost in tears.

She said that she had regained her childhood when she used to perform in Trincas in Park Street.

She sang here all the evening.

She was not even prepared.

She was just very nostalgic.

We have established one thing here.

There are many people, who come here, have food in Chapter 2 and leave.

They have no connection with the Mall.

We are one-third the cost of a premium fine-dining restaurant.

We are also fine-dining.

But for premium I am talking about the five star ones.

Meal for two in Chapter 2 would cost about INR 500-700.

We are following Rooftop Rannaghar for past some weeks.

To me, this initiative is one of its kind in India.

Our very close friend Anindya has taken this initiative.
