What if every good action inspired more goodness

What if every dollar we gave increased over time?

improving the lives for generations to come

With the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations, generosity grows over time

The work that we do with our community and with our partners

touches lives across the entire state of Minnesota.

This is Giving, Amplified.

It all started with our first donor

when Annie left $5,000,

a gift of faith in a future she would not see,

her gift became the seed for what is now

the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations.

In fact, those funds continue multiplying and helping Minnesotans today.

More than 75 years after that first gift,

we manage nearly 1.5 billion dollars in assets.

The Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations have been collaborating

with many organizations right from the start

by providing all-important funding.

We had me and two other volunteers living in my basement,

and over the next six years

we've grown to 70 full-time staff.

They really cared about what we were doing

and provided real infrastructure and support to help us grow in the community.

Most recently,

the Foundations helped us

establish Beaningful,

which is a social enterprise coffee shop

that provides first job opportunities for our participants.

We believe that listening

is critical to the work that we do

as Minnesota's largest community foundation.

Communities are in the best position to articulate their own challenges and opportunities.

We reach across the state

through our donor-advised fund holders

and through our Foundation gifts,

we reached 71 out of 87 counties in the state last year.

Our donors are a part of a dynamic giving community.

If you want to be healthy,

if you want to feel well,

contribute.

When you see your values passed on to others

and then you see that they actually find ways to multiply that effect,

as an adult or a parent or a grandparent,

you can't ask for anything more than that.

We have more than 75 years of history in Minnesota.

We recently reached a historic milestone - more than 1 billion dollars in grants to the community.

The Minnesota giving community continues to humble us.

Aligned with shared priorities,

transforming communities in need and serving future generations

Thank you a billion times over, Minnesota.

Gov. Walz Announces 2-Year Budget Plan For Minnesota - Duration: 2:01.

YOUR SPORTS.

>> DENNIS: HI, EVERYONE.

THANKS FOR JOINING US.

GOVERNOR TIM WALZ IS PROPOSING A

49 BILLION-DOLLAR BUDGET THAT

INCLUDES A 20-CENT HIKE IN THE

STATE'S GASOLINE TAX ALONG WITH

SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN

SPENDING AND EDUCATION AND

HEALTH CARE WHILE GRANTING TAX

RELIEF FOR MANY MINNESOTANS.

HIS PROPOSAL ANNOUNCED TODAY

INCLUDES A 523 MILLION-DOLLAR

INCREASE IN STATE FUNDING FOR

LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS, MORE AID

TO CITIES AND COUNTIES,

SUBSIDIES TO CUT PREMIUMS ON THE

STATE HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE

BY 20% AND $70 MILLION TO ENSURE

THAT ALL HOUSEHOLDS IN RURAL

MINNESOTA HAVE HIGH SPEED

INTERNET ACCESS.

THE GAS TAX INCREASE FOR ROADS

AND BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS WOULD

FREE UP GENERAL FUND REVENUES

THAT WOULD THEN BE REDIRECTED TO

EDUCATION.

>> AS I TRAVELED MILE AFTER MILE

AND ENJOYED COUNTLESS

CONVERSATIONS ACROSS THE STATE,

IT BECAME ABUNDANTLY CLEAR TO ME

THAT THERE ARE THREE TOP

PRIORITIES FOR MINNESOTA,

EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE AND

COMMUNITY PROSPERITY.

MINNESOTANS WANT TO BRING DOWN

THE COST OF HEALTH CARE, PROVIDE

A QUALITY EDUCATION TO CHILDREN

AND GRANDCHILDREN AND ENSURE

COMMUNITIES ACROSS STATE ARE

PROSPERING.

THE BUDGET I'M UNVEILING TODAY

WILL MAKE SIGNIFICANT STRIDES IN

ACHIEVING THESE PRIORITIES.

I'VE OFTEN SAID A BUDGET IS MORE

THAN A FISCAL DOCUMENT.

IT REFLECTS THE MORALS AND

VALUES OF THE PEOPLE OF

MINNESOTA.

THIS IS THE BUDGET THAT

MINNESOTANS VOTED FOR IN

HISTORIC NUMBERS IN NOVEMBER.

>> DENNIS: REPUBLICAN

LEGISLATIVE LEADERS SAY THEIR

CAUCUSES WON'T ACCEPT THE TAX

INCREASES THAT THE GOVERNOR HAS

PROPOSED GIVEN THE STATE'S

PROJECTED BUDGET SURPLUS.
