hello everyone today I'm going to talk to you about all the different
terminology sayings around trauma training
and so many of you have heard the terminology or the therapy approach
called trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy that's the big one
but we also call it TF CBT and so there's a lot of misconceptions on like
trauma trained trauma-informed and TF CBT and so I just want to explain them a
little bit to you guys so trauma trained and trauma-informed means that you've
had training regarding trauma you will have had training on maybe what it does
to the body what it does to the mind how it presents in kids ways that we don't
reach Ramat eyes children who have been through traumatic events so it's being
sensitive and aware of the role trauma plays and so that can come in many
different forms people can say their trauma-informed or trauma trained if
they maybe took a training online or maybe they went to a seminar that had a
breakout of trauma or there's really no criteria to where you can say I'm
trauma-informed there's or trained trauma trained or trauma-informed
there's no criteria that like fits you in that box it doesn't say like if
you've had six hours you can say you're trauma-informed no that's not like that
it's kind of like people who maybe do CBT let's just say like CBT and forum or
CBT trained right there's no like course you go to that gives you that title or
that name it's just you're aware of the principles and you've done some research
or gone somewhere to get that knowledge so that's trauma trained and
trauma-informed the like end-all be-all of TF CBT is nationally certified and so
I am nationally certified in TF CBT and it is a process it is not a simple thing
to get certified in so the process is you attend a two-day training of
somebody who is is what's the word like is trained to provide the training there
you go is trained to provide the training and like credentialed and a way
to do that they're kind of given like the blessing to be able to train other
people in it so you go to that training there's an advanced training as well
which I have been to and it's for flex trauma so when we think of a
traumatic event a lot of times we think of a fire a burglary a tornado a car
accident TF CBT does 100% absolutely I'm not
saying 100% of people get better but TF CBT is for a person who has gone through
a traumatic event like that but additionally this advanced training is
for complex trauma so kids who have endured physical abuse sexual abuse
neglect over and over and over that's our complex trauma so that is an
additional one-day training then after that you have to attend the consultation
calls I believe it was four six months that I had to attend consultation calls
and that is where I had to present cases and then also participate in other
people presenting their cases and what they looked like and providing advice
and feedback on it so then additionally you have to participate in the
completion of three cases meaning that you have three clients that you see from
beginning to graduation you graduate them through TF CBT and then after that
you take a national certification exam once all that is complete you are listed
on the National certification TF CBT website for people to seek you out if
they're looking for somebody nationally certified in TF CBT somebody can do that
process to any degree and not finish but their name will not be listed on the
certification website so that person I would call trauma trained or
trauma-informed they would not be nationally certified in TF CBT and would
not be listed on that website so that website if you're interested is W WTF
CBT org and you can click find a provider and sort it by state and I will
put that link down below in case you guys are looking for it but that's kind
of a difference between trauma trained trauma-informed and nationally certified
in TF CBT so if you guys have questions please let me know don't forget to Like
and subscribe down below if you could and I will see you guys soon thanks
you
